In the 1851 census of Tyendinaga Township (Page 75) , John McVicker (Vika) was 54 years old, born in Ireland, and Roman Catholic.
His wife was Bedda (Bridget) McFaul, born in Ireland, age 52, and Roman Catholic. They both were from County Antrim in Ireland.
The 1851 Cenus has three people listed as living in their one storey log house: Mary 20, Thomas 11, and James 9, all born in Ireland.
The Marysville Parish record indicates that John was from Leyde (Layde) in Country Antrim in Ulster. Leyde is supposedly near Cushingall.
It is likely that the family emigrated between 1842 and 1847.
John lived on the 2nd Concession, part of Lot 25. John was born about 1797 in Ireland, and he may have died between 1865 and 1871.
Bedda or Bridget was born about 1799 in Ireland and died about August 14 or 15 in 1859.
She was buried in Marysville Parish Cemetery on August 17, 1859. Martin Doyle is listed as being one of the witnesses.
There was a John McVicker who at 26 years of age was buried in the Marysville Parish Cemetery in August of 1847.
It is not known who his family was, but he may have belonged to this family. For the purposes of this document we are assuming a connection.
The Ontario Archives death records list a John McVicker as dying on March 8, 1879.
The Ontario Archives death records list a James McVicker as dying on Aug. 8, 1880.
The records show that this was a 1 day old infant, born in Shanonville, next of kin was a Patrick McVicker. Not sure of mothers name.
