    Place of birth shown as AL in 1850 and 1860 and as Georgia in 1870. In 1855 he bought land from Gilliam and Jane Chancellor [10/17/1855, Deed Book C, Butler Co. AL]. In 1859 he was Executor of his father's will and from the will he recieved "a Negro boy named Nelson". There is a Jackson Chancellor buried in the Chancellor Cemetary in Freestone Co. TX [ 1815-1870]. Could be an error on Marker as this Jackson was on 1880 census in Butler Co. AL but not found there after that Census.     According to the 1866 Census of Butler County, Jackson Chancellor lost two sons in the Civil War; one from wounds and the other from sickness. The only two Chancellor males that would be candidates are John and George. All their other male siblings lived beyond the Civil War. (James T. Snow)
