Notes on Obadiah Cooper as per Dr. A.C. Bowerman of Prince Edward County

" Obadiah Cooper was English. When a lad of 11 years he was "pressed" into the British Navy, where he learned the trade of a tailor, which he followed after his escape.
He settled in Dutchess County, New York State, where he was twice married.
His first wife was Sarah Pyer.
His second wife was a widow named Van Vlack, who had a son named Henry.
Henry Van Vlack had two sons, one named Elias, who settled at Waupoos, the other named Stephen, settled at Milford, both in the County.
A son named James was born out of the marriage to the widow Van Vlack, he was born on August 3, 1976. "

Obadiah Cooper came to Canada in 1802, crossing over at Kingston, and then onto Prince Edward County.
Odadiah brought all his family with him.
