Francis Howard Brodigan was born 6 April 1877 in St. Catherines to John Brodigan and Emma Thomas. His mother's obituary in the Toronto Star said that she was a descendant of a well-known Welsh and Quaker family.
Frank appeared in Globe and Mail society pages on May 25, 1945 and on Sept. 25, 1955. According to US border crossing documents, he was a bookkeeper in the 1920's, and he was still living at 263 Russell Hill Road in 1948.
Frank had previously married Irene Maude McManus in Vancouver on April 18, 1914. They had a son, Victor H., born 9 Apr. 1919 in Canada, died 14 Jan. 1963 in Contra Costa California, and a daughter, Bernice, born in 1917. Frank and Irene divorced in the 1920's (Irene's 1927 US naturalization paper says she was divorced, and that Bernice was living with her, and Victor with his father).
There is a reference in the society page of the Globe and Mail, may 25, 1945, to his son Victor of the US Army engineering staff, visiting his father. There were several society page articles in the Toronto Star and Toronto Globe and Mail about Frank; e.g. he was a member and officer of the Pickwick Club; he attended various society events, gave out awards, etc.; he was listed as visiting friends in London and the Edinburgh Festival in 1955. Earlier, his sister Laura appeared often in the society pages; she was prominent as a musician and music teacher.
There is a file on Ancestry.com for Francis Brodigan, which gives the name of his third wife, Mary Moller, whom he married, at the age of 82, on 17 June, 1959 in St. Catherines, Ontario, less than a year before his death.
