Harry Edison Goodmurphy was engaged in the pulpwood business in whichhe was highly respected along the north shore and on Cockburn Island, for his forthrightness, honesty, and fair dealing.
In keeping with his upbringing and occupation, Harry was an ardent outdoorsman.
The day he passed away in the winter of 1978, he was making preparations for one of his favourite pasttimes, ice fishing.
Harry never lost touch with Cockburn Island, being one of the few landowners who refused to sell the family homestead to the Ontario Paper Company, when that firm was purchasing old farmland to convert to spruce plantations.
One of the largest gatherings of friends in the history of Thessalon, Ontario assembled to pay their last respects to this fine gentleman from Cockburn Island.
