In the Report of the Department of Public Records and Archives of Ontario (1933), there is a record dated 20 July 1797: "Samuel Burdick, praying for lands as a settler and for a lease of lot 15 2nd Concession of Oxford. Recommended for 200 acres. Also recommended for a lease of the lot he has improved." (page 39)
In "Baptists of Beamsville, 1788-1988", by Marion Whitman Dawdy, "Our [second] pastor was Lic. Samuel Burdick. He has the dubious honour of being the first candidate examined by an Ordination Council in Ontario: dubious, because he was refused ordination. The council felt his acquaintance with scriptures and human nature in general had not been sufficient. Five months later, he was granted a letter of dismissal from our church and disappeared from the scene."
Samuel Burdick appears to have purchased land in Chautauqua County, New York by an indenture on " 20 Oct 1818 between Willum Willink, Hendrick Vollin (?), and Rutger Ian Schinn___?, all of the city of Amsterdam, in the Kingdom of the United Netherlands".
At the time of the 1850 Census, Samuel and Dorothy Burdick were living with their daughter and son-in-law, Judah and Lawton J. Knapp, in the town of Hanover, Chautauqua, New York. Samuel's and Dorothy's birth places were both given as 'Vermont'. His age was 74 years, and hers was 67 years.
Samuel S. Burdick's last will and testament was made on the 19th of August 1850, and was submitted for probate in the Surrogate's Court at Sinclearville, Chautauqua County, New York, on 19 December, 1850. His heirs were "Dorothy Burdick his widow, Judah L. Knapp wife of Lawton J. Knapp of Hanover, Chautauqua County, New York, Enoch Burdick of Beachville, Canada West, Francis Burdick of St. Marys Blanchard, Canada West, Alvin Burdick of Coldwater & John Burdick of Hastings State of Michigan, Rachel Black of Nauvoo state of Illinois, Pamelia Houck wife of Chancellor Houck of Liberty township Pennsylvania, George Burdick of London, Canada West, Malvina Burdick of Westminster Canada West, all of full age, & grand children of the said deceased & Samuel Burdick, Amos Burdick, James Burdick, Ira Burdick, Charles Landphere, Thaddius Landphere, William Landphere, Orlando Landphere all grand children of the said deceased & minors under the age of twenty one years having no general guardian residing in the said town of Hanover & Emory [letter crossed out] Warren a reputable & disinterested freeholder of the town of Charlotte having duly consented to act as special guardian of the said minors it is ordered that the said Emory [T?] Warren be the hereby is [sic] appointed the special guardian of the said Samuel Burdick, Amos Burdick, James Burdick, Ira Burdick, James Landphere, Charles Landphere, Thaddeus Landphere, William Landphere, & Orlando Landphere for the sole purpopse of appearing for them & taking care of their interests in the proceedings attendant on the probate of the said will."
He is buried in Pioneer Cemetery, Forestville, Chaut. Co. NY.
    Sources; Samuel [S.] Burdick's will, 19 Aug 1850, pro 19 Dec 1850.
In the 1830 and 1840 censuses of Chaut. Co NY, Samuel Burdick appears to have purchased land in Chautauqua Co., NY by an indenture on " 20 Oct 1818 between Willum Willink, Hendrick Vollin (?), and Rutger Ian Schinn___?, all of the city of Amsterdam, in the Kingdom of the United Netherlands" (Chaut. NY Deeds, film # 0478718, vol 30, page 350.).
The published record of the Pioneer Cemetery in Forestville says that his burial date was November 9, 1830, but his will was probated on the 19 of December, 1850, so there seems to be a misprint in the published record.
