James married Bridget Annie CALLAGHAN on 25 Nov 1895 in Holy Name of Mary R.C. Church, Marysville, Ontario. Bridget (daughter of Daniel Thomas CALLAGHAN and Mary MURRAY) was born on 17 Jan 1868 in Melrose, Tyendinaga Twp, Hastings County, Ontario, Canada; died on 20 Dec 1901 in Marysville, Tyendinaga Twp, Hastings County, Ontario; was buried on 22 Dec 1901 in Holy Name of Mary R.C. According to the Death records, Daniel McVicker was the son of John and Bridget McVicker, and was born in County Antrim, Ireland.
In the Daniel McVicker family there are some memories of his siblings Mary, Thomas and maybe James.
The 1901 Census for Tyendinaga Township, lists Daniel at age 75, having been born on February 2, 1826 and having come to Canada in 1847.
He died March 30, 1920 at age 95 in Deseronto, Ontario. He was buried April 7, 1920 in Marysville, Ontario. According to the records he died of Arterio Sclerosis brought on by a bowel obstruction.
He has been sick for 4 years. His son James is listed as the informant.
Daniel married a Margaret O'Connor, who according to the 1901 Census, was born on January 10, 1829.
Her parents were Patrick O'Connor of County Antrim, Ireland and Mary Wisely of Dublin, Ireland. Margaret died about April 6, 1913 and was buried on April 8, 1913 in Marysville.
Family tradition says that Daniel worked for an Englishman when he first came to Canada.
Perhaps this was in the late 1840's and Daniel was at this time in his 20's. Apparently that was at a mill along Fisher Creek on the first sideroad to the west of the Lonsdale sideroad, Concession 4, S 1/2 Lot 25.
The 1881 Census for Tyendinaga Township, has Daniel and Margaret, and their four youngest children, living in the Millpoint area. Daniel is listed as a farmer, and Patrick is listed as a labourer.
In 1891, they are still in Tyendinaga Township, Daniel is still listed as a farmer, Patrick, age 32, is a general servant, James is age 26, and George is 23.
By 1901, Daniel is 75 and Margaret is 72, and their son Patrick, age 43 is still listed living with them.
In the 39 years between 1860 and 1899 Daniel is listed as living in five different places, always as a freeholder, and all of this was in Tyendinaga Twp.
Their daughter Rose died in infancy.

Daniel married Margaret O'CONNOR about 1846. Margaret (daughter of Patrick O'CONNOR and Mary WISLEY) was born on 10 Jan 1829 in County Antrim, Ireland; died on 19 Jan 1913 in Deseronto, Tyendinaga Twp, Hastings County, Ontario,Canada; was buried on 8 Apr 1913 in Marysville, Tyendinaga Twp, Hastings County, Ontario. Daniel married Mary MURRAY on 24 Oct 1858 in Marysville, Tyendinaga Twp, Hastings County, Ontario. Mary (daughter of John MURRAY and Ellen HURLEY) was born on 10 Aug 1826 in Marysville, Tyendinaga Twp, Hastings County, Ontario; died in 1932 in Marysville, Tyendinaga Twp, Hastings County, Ontario. In the 1851 census of Tyendinaga Township (Page 75) , John McVicker (Vika) was 54 years old, born in Ireland, and Roman Catholic.
His wife was Bedda (Bridget) McFaul, born in Ireland, age 52, and Roman Catholic. They both were from County Antrim in Ireland.
The 1851 Cenus has three people listed as living in their one storey log house: Mary 20, Thomas 11, and James 9, all born in Ireland.
The Marysville Parish record indicates that John was from Leyde (Layde) in Country Antrim in Ulster. Leyde is supposedly near Cushingall.
It is likely that the family emigrated between 1842 and 1847.

John lived on the 2nd Concession, part of Lot 25. John was born about 1797 in Ireland, and he may have died between 1865 and 1871.
Bedda or Bridget was born about 1799 in Ireland and died about August 14 or 15 in 1859.
She was buried in Marysville Parish Cemetery on August 17, 1859. Martin Doyle is listed as being one of the witnesses.

There was a John McVicker who at 26 years of age was buried in the Marysville Parish Cemetery in August of 1847.
It is not known who his family was, but he may have belonged to this family. For the purposes of this document we are assuming a connection.

The Ontario Archives death records list a John McVicker as dying on March 8, 1879.
The Ontario Archives death records list a James McVicker as dying on Aug. 8, 1880.
The records show that this was a 1 day old infant, born in Shanonville, next of kin was a Patrick McVicker. Not sure of mother’s name.

Thomas and his younger brother emigrated to Canada first, followed 10 years later by their nephew Cornelius (eldest son of Denis). Denis emigrated in the mid 1840's.

Thomas was the second eldest of the original Callaghan brothers and emigrated to Canada in about 1826, along with his brother Daniel and their families.

Thomas held the original Crown Patent fromthe Canada Company for 100 acres, at Concession2, N 1/2 Lot20, deeded 4 Nov 1842.
He had been settled on this land at least since his application date of 17 May 1832.

After the death of her husband, Bridget moved in with the family of her daughter, Mary who married William Drummey.
Under the terms of his will, dated 28 Jul 1869, Thomas passed the land to his son Daniel T. Callaghan.
The date of enforcement by the executors of his will, John Shaughnessy and Michael Doyle, was 22 Jun 1871.

He left the West Half to his wife during her life. Part of the land was willed by Daniel's widow, Mury, to her only surviving child, Mary (Hart).

Thomas is buried directly adjacent to the graves of three of his children, Bridget, Thomas, and Johanna, as well as the grave of his great-grandson, Edward, son of his
grandson Thomas and Mary Flaghan.
