14. | Caleb BURDICK was born on 09 Aug 1785 in Lanesborough, Berkshire, Massachusetts, United States (son of James BURDICK and Phoebe SMITH); died on 02 Jul 1858 in Malahide, Elgin, Ontario, Canada. Notes:
Much of the information on the next two generations comes from the Ancestral File as of July 1992, turned in by J. Colleen Masterson, 203 W 4650 N, Rexburg,Idaho, 83440. His headstone says his age at death was 73 yr 9 m 4 days. His wife, Lovina's tombstone says: "Lovina died 11 Mar 1843 in her 57th year." Caleb received a Court Appointment on June 14, 1814, as town warden for Oxford. He was on the Grand Jury on June 11, 1805 and on 14 March 1815.
Caleb Burdick kept a minute Book which is in the files of the Archives of the United Church. It says, in part, that he was a deacon of the Methodist Episcopal Church, was born in Massachusetts in 1788 [sic] and came to Canada at the age of 12. His family settled in Oxford Township.
On March 3, 1839, Caleb wrote "A Record of my Father's Family". He recorded their ages as they would have been on that date, as if they were still alive:

Microfiche # 6050287, Burdick Cemetery Records, South Gore Lot 21, Malahide Twp, Elgin Co, Ont., says his age at death was 73 yr 9 m 4 days. His wife, Levina's tombstone says: "Lovina died 11 Mar 1843 in her 57th year." Their marriage is found in London District Marriage records, 1800-1837, page 1. It says that Caleb was "of Oxford" and Levina was "of Charlottesville". They were married by John Beamer, JP, and the witnesses were Simon Mabee, Abigail Mabee and Silas Montross. Caleb received a Court Appointment on June 14, 1814 as town warden for Oxford. He was on the Grand Jury on June 11, 1805 and on 14 March 1815.
Caleb married Levinah TEEPLE on 24 Feb 1805 in London District,Ontario. Levinah was born on 10 May 1786 in Saint John, Saint John County, New Brunswick, Canada; died on 14 Mar 1843 in Charlotteville Twnsp, Norfolk, Ontario, Canada. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
