Notes:

Newburn Harold Hunt died in France while serving in the Canadian Armed Forces as a truck driver.
Newburn had enlisted in November 1943, and left for overseas three (3) months later.
He was enlisted in the Manitoba Regiment of the Canadian Army.
His brothers Earl and Norman were with R.C.N.V.R., while Clarence was overseas with Canadian Army.
Newburn moved to Port Arthur as a child, and was employed by the Port Arthur Shipbuilding Company before his enlistment.

Newburn married Mae Mary MCDONALD on 13 Jul 1935 in Port Arthur, Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. Mae (daughter of Donald John MCDONALD and Elma Louella BERRY) was born on 23 Dec 1917 in Port Arthur, Ontario, Canada; died on 23 Dec 1993 in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Notes:

Mae McDonald was widowed during the war.
She attended St Johns Anglican Church in Port Arthur up until the time she was remarried to Cletus MacDonald.
Mae converted to Catholicism upon marrying Cletus MacDonald, and became a member of St Andrews Roman Catholic Church. She was a member of the Catholic Womens League.
She is buried in St Andrews Cemetery.

Notes:

At the time of his marriage to Kathleen Walker, John Hunt was a sailor and was 18 years older than Kathleen.
Captain Jack I Hunt died at the age of 96 in the Port Arthur Hospital, after a lenghthy illness.
Jack had lived in Port Arthur for about 60 years.He was a well known Lake Captain (Tugboats), employed with various timbering firms at the Lakehead, sailing mostly in the Lake Nipigon area.

John married Kathleen Carol WALKER on 24 Dec 1906 in Nipigon, Ontario, Canada. Kathleen (daughter of Andrew WALKER and Ann DONNELLY) was born on 15 Aug 1888 in Nipigon, Ontario, Canada; died on 3 Nov 1961 in Port Arthur, Ontario, Canada. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

The Ontario Canada Catholic Church Records, Event Year 1866-1880, Place of Worship Alexandria, record that:
Donald John McDonald was baptized on Feb 16,1876. He was born on Feb 5,1876 to Dougald McDonald and Mary Cameron.
The baptism was performed by Rev. Father John S. O'Connor, Parish Priest at St Finnans Cathedral in Alexandria, Ontario.

Dougald McDonald was the son of John McDonald and Isabella McGillis, of 1/7 Caledonia in Parish of Lochiel.
Mary Cameron was the daughter of Duncan Cameron and Mary McDonald of 11/3rd Concession Kenyon, Parish of Alexandria.

Dougald and Mary were married on May 13,1873 at St Finnans by Father John S. O'Connor.

See the 1881 Census for Mary Cameron - 2 sons listed ages 7 and 5 - listed as Cameron not McDonald. Mary is living at her parents farms - her father Duncan is widowed.

The Death Notice for Donald John McDonald - born Feb 5 1876 lists parents as Donald John McDonald and Mary Cameron of Gengarry County, Ontario.
It is possible that Dougald had a middle name of John as that was his father's name.
He also may have gone by Donald in later years.
Dougald was alive at the time of the 1871 Census. Still trying to validate where he was subsequent to the birth of his son in 1876.
The obituary in the Fort William Daily Times on Saturday Nov 9th,1929 records as follows:
"Donald John McDonald, aged 53 years, died at 10 PM last night in St Joseph's Hospital in Port Arthur, after a two week's illness, thought he had been in poor health for a long time.He was born in Glengarry Township, and made his home in McIntyre. The funeral will be held on Wed Nov 13th at 10 AM from Sargent & Sons Funeral parlour to St Andrew's Roman Catholic Church, thence to St Andrew's R.C. Cemetery".

Donald married Elma Louella BERRY on 21 Oct 1908 in Murillo, Thunder Bay District Ontario, Canada. Elma (daughter of William Simon BERRY and Amelia Ann RICE) was born on 18 Sep 1881 in Chesterville, Ontario; died on 29 Nov 1945 in Port Arthur, Ontario, Canada. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Notes:

Not sure if ever married to Don J Johnston. Elma would have been about 18 years old at the time.
Arrived in Port Arthur, Ontario about 1902 - had lived in Port Arthur for 43 years at time of her death.

Elma took in a boarder by the name of Paddy, who had come over from Ireland.
Paddy boarded with Elma for about 12 years.
