    Nathaniel is the son of Richard Lewis.

    . Nathaniel Lewis, second son of Robert and Mary (Pyle) Lewis, born in Chester county, came with his parents to Philadelphia in 1749. He officiated as one of the executors of his father's WILL in 1790, and of that of his brother, Robert in 1795. He married Lucy Lawrence, and had, among other children,
    Lawrence Lewis, who married Anna Maria Stocker, & their son, Robert Morton Lewis, born in Philadelphia, November 7, 1828, graduated from University of Pennsylvania in 1846, married Anna Elizabeth, daughter of Richard and Anna Elizabeth (Farmer) Shippen.

    To Excellency, John Graves Simcoe, Esquire, Lieut. Governor, Commander In-Chief In & Over His Majesty's Province of Upper Canada. In Council.
    The humble Petition of Nathan Lewis, most humbly shewth:
    That your petitioner came into Canada from the Colonies in the year 1777 as a Loyalist & faithful subject to Great Britain & hath served his Majesty 4 years in the xx of a soldier in Colonel Butler's Rangers & that as a subject, thinks himself entitled to his Majesty's Bounty.

    Your petitioner, therefore, requests that your Excellence would be pleased to grant him the next Lott west of that on which Robert Surplus is settled on the North side the River la Tranche (or Thames) in the County of Essex,
    & your petitioner as in duty bound shall ever pray,
