Assigned Lot 8,Con 6, but already settled by Walter Clandenin, & also climed by Jacob Filker: to Peter Russse, your petitoner bearing arms during the laste contest in American, having had the Minutes of Counil in Jan. 1796 fr land location, I made appliocation to the Survey Genearl's Office for L8 C6 Gainsboro. Entereed upon the same last spring. A few days ago I was informed that jacob Felker lately from ghe States made applicationfor land & through mistake it was entered to him. When Mr Smith [Survey General's Office] found that mistake he wrote MrFelker to give up the lot to me, but he has refused to do so. I have cleared about 10 acres, in a good fence, as it is distressing to be turned into the wilderness with my family. Singed Walter Clandenin, Gainsborough, 2 Feb 1797.
We the subscribers certify that the above Walter Clandenin was clearned the 10 Acres & Felker has no improvement thereon.

    . Erndtebrück 1256 - 2006, 750 years
Erndtebrück was first mentioned in documents in 1256. The State of Wittgenstein was first composed of the land east of Battenberg. A document from 1174 names a Count Werner of Wittgenstein, whose name comes from the castle near Laasphe. Even today Erndtebrück is considered to be a very remote hilly village in the upper Eder River valley. The road winds from west to east through the Eder & Befe Rivers. Fording the rivers was difficult when the rivers flooded. Thus name of the village, Erndte Bridge was an important toll bridge & a shorter route for the conveys of foreign traders & travelers. You could also save time by renting oxen to tow the wagons up the hill.

On old maps the highest point on the Wabrich is called, the Wagon castle. This was a shelter to put wagons while the animals pulled the convoy's next wagon up hill. This resting space on the mountain was a shield against the mist & fog & this looked like a castle when seen from the village below. In more recent years, the hill tops are now used as high pasture lands for cattle. There are also hunting blinds adjacent the tree line.

On the main road just outside of Erndtebrück there is a large cemetery. The cold falling rain prevented me from having a look there. PJ Felker (Ahlberg) October 2010. - - -

Johannes married Catherina Elisabeth MÜELLER on 27 Feb 1727 in Evangelische-Reformierte Kirche. Catherina (daughter of Henrich MÜELLER and Elizabeth Anna BELZ) was born on 11 Feb 1702 in Schamder, Westfalen, Germany; died on 28 Jan 1742 in Erndtebrück, Westphalia, Germany. Notes:

Catherina Elisabeth is the daughter of Elisabeth Anna Belz of Schamder, Germany & Henrich Mueller.

Erndtebrück had its first documentary mention in 1256, celebrating 750 years of existence in 2006. The village was first known by the name Ermingardibruggern, & was the seat of a knightly family, & later a customs office with market rights.
    Ref: Wikipedia.

    . Müeller's House:
    > The Mayor's estate was the first on the left side of the road & likely one of the oldest dwellings in the lower part of the village. For a long time the mayor's office was located in the house whose name was constantly changing because of the various people marrying into the Müeller's family.

    . One of the Mayors, besides being a farmer, was a Müellerman /Miller, Inn-keeper & Toll-collector.
Milling requires water power, possibly explaining the name of the farm's name, 'Im Teich'. ('In the Pond' ).

The partial remaining building is now known as Müeller's Butcher Shop & on the main street in the Grimbach side of Erndtebrück. The house-store is found on the backside of the village marketplace. - visited Oct 2010 PJ Felker (Ahlberg) - - -
