    1947 Aug 21 - Funeral services Ira Roszel, 78, held Monday from the Johnstone & Rumley funeral Home. Mr Roszel died August 15 in Guelph General Hospital after a short illness. Services were conduct by Rev J M Anderson Known Church, Acton. Interment in Balinafad Cemetery.

    . 1915 Jan 21 - Ballinafad, Mr. Blake Vanmatter had a valuable fox poisoned about a month ago. They have a detective working the case. He visited Ballinafad a work ago last Monday & interviewed a number of young man around here, but do not think that there is any person around here that would be guilty of such an act.

    . A very pleasant family reunion took place at the house of Ira Roszel on Friday 13 January, when quite a number of friends of the family were present to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their wedding day. The time was spent in dances & music. W J Willson? gave a number of violin selections,
    His daughter Blanche, accompanied him on the organ. Miss Waddell gave a couple of instrumental selections There were additions by Rev Mr Waddel & Mr F Nunmutter.
    There ware friends present from Flesherton, Cataract, Grand Valley, Inglewood, Toronto & Aurora.
    - Miss Fannie Roszel has gone to Toronto where she will spend a month or two.

    One of our most highly respected citizens in the person of Margaret Jane Walker, beloved wife of Ira Roszel, passed away at there home here on Monday, January 23rd. Deceased was 56 years of age & was born at Ballinafad, Erin Tp.
    Beside her husband she leaves to your the loss of a kind & loving mother, 2 daughters & 3 sons, George, Sask., William & Comfort, Georgetown; Mrs Victor Harding, Esquesing; Mrs James Nickell, Limehouse. She is also survived by her mother, Mrs E J Walker & 4 brothers & 3 sisters: Wm. Walker, Eugenia, John Walker, Called, Arthur Walker, Sask.; R C Walker, Mitchell; Mrs A D Thirston, Montreal; Mrs W A Gordon, Engenia & Miss Irene Walker, Georgetown.
    Deceased was a member of thePresbyterian church; also a member of the Chosen Friends. The remains are entered in Ballinafad beside her infant son who died 21 years ago.
    Rev R F Cameron conducted the service. Pall bearers were Blake Vannatter, Clayton Beswick, Herb Allen, Rich Shortill, Fred Shortill & R B Shortill. There were many beautiful flora tributes. - - -

    . Eugenia Falls: Lots 26 & 27 is right near the Falls. In 1903 searches were made for Ekarenniondi ( Standing Rock), the defensive outpost of the whole Nation of Petuns (Tobacco First Huron Nations) that & been report by Father Charles Garner, Jesuit Missionary, before dispersal of 1649. [Standing Rock was later identified at Collingwood Scenic Caves.] The Falls were make an ideal positions for a Native stronghold Moreover, no one could positively affirm that Native remains had ever been discord in the neighborhood. Eugenia Falls must be some 60 feet in height, falling in one unbroken sheet into the pool beneath.

    A growing village near the centre of the Township of Artemisia, at the intersection of the "Toronto & Sydenham" & Durham & Collingwood Gravel Roads. The post office is still known by the original name "Artemisia." The village has a post office 3 stores, 2 taverns, several carpenters, a pump-maker, a blacksmith shop, a Sawmill, a carding & fulling mill, 2 churches, 2 resident clergymen, & a resident physician. It is 5 m. from Priceville, 37 m. from Orangeville, 30 miles to Owen Sound, & 30 miles to Collingwood Harbor. There is a very large traffic through the village, setting Eastward toward Collingwood. - - -
