Ontario, situated on the centre road leading from Whitby to Beaverton distant from Whitby 10 Miles & from Prince Albert 1 miles, settled 18736 by Dennis Phidgett & Peter Taylor. It contains a town hall, one common school with average attendance of 80 pupils, Church of England, Methodist & presbyterian denominations hold services alternately in the town hall, Village contains also 2 stores, 3 hotels & a good flouring & grist mill in the neighborhood, Revere House, under the able management of Clem Dawes, Esq. we can full recommend to the notice of the traveling public, Population 200.
