    Frederick received his schooling at S.S. No. 6 Union. He took over the farm duties from his father. The present home was completed for him and his bride. He was the 5th generation to farm the present land. He was interested in nature, hobbying in race horses, firearms, hunting and fishing. He was an enthusiastic participant in trap and skeet shooting in his younger years and received many trophies for his accuracy.All of his children were born at the present farm except for Douglas who was born in the hospital but lived only five days.

    Because of two F.A. Dolsens living on R.R.#5 Chatham, ON, Frederick Alexander opted to change from Dolsen to Dolson to avoid confusion of mail to Franklin Alexander Dolsen.
