"In this sheet is the populations of the village of Springbrooke, situated in rather a picturesque place. The scenery is beautiful, the land greatly brokenly the River Credit in the immediate neighborhood is what is called the Devils pulpit, formed in the chasm of avery large rock & forming part of the same chair of mountains of that at Niagara Falls. Here the north & sough of the west half of the Township is as it were completely separated, as there is no road leading through the west half of the Township from the centre to the 5th Concession. The land is stoney & of a light gravely bottom & not good for raising fall wheat; timbered with maple, hemlock, brush, a good deal of elm & some basswood."
