    OBITUARY
    Weekly Guide march 16 1894 page 8 col 1: The funeral of the late Clarke Wallace took place last Sunday Afternoon from the residence of his son Mr. W.J. Wallace,Cavan st. to Bellmont cemetary,the Choate Family burying ground.Rev.W.J. Crothers,pastor of the methodist church conducted the service. Mr. Wallace was one of the oldest residents of Port Hope. He was born in Syracusse N.Y. and came to Port Hope in 1828.His wife preceeded him to the spirit world some 2 or 3 years ago. He leaves 3 sons,one daughter( Mrs. Thomas Hayden) and a number of grandchildren to mourn his departure.A large number of old friends and aquaintences were present to pay their last token of respect to an old comrade
