Dr W Oldright, chairman of the Provincial Board of Health, Provicne of Ontario, being present, stated a complaint had been made to the Prov.Bd. of Health, concerning certain nuances calculated to be injuries to the village. . An interesting Meeting. Dr. Oldright attended a Council meeting on Monday night & address them a large number or ratepayers at some length upon the sanitary conditions of certain parts of the village not being properly looker after. Ref: York Herald Newspaper, Richmond Hill. Dr. Oldright descended from military ancestors. His grandfather was a burgher of Frankfort-on-Main. He having contracted a 2nd marriage, his son left home & joined the British army when Napoleon Bonaparte's military genius. His mother was Elizabeth Clucas, from the Isle of Man. In 1854 his father's retirement he resided in Nova Scotia for a short time. He then attended Brantford High School & entered University college graduated in modern languages in 864 & medicine in 1865. He began practice at Walkerton, Not for 2 years & returned to Toronto in 1867. He became a lecturer on Sanitary Science in the Toronto School of Medicine. 11539 | DALE, Melvin Rae, C.S.T. On Monday, January 20, 2014 in his 96th year, Melvin went to be with his Lord. Formerly of London and living in Forest, Melvin was predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Geraldine (2012) and is survived by his daughters Catherine Topping, Anne Clayton and Mary Beth (Bruce 2011) Snelgrove. Melvin will be sadly missed by his grandchildren; Stephanie (Hal) Inglis, Alaena (Nader) Atefi, Scott Clayton, and Matthew Snelgrove. Also survived by his loving great grandchildren Mac, Jaxson, Noah and David. Melvin was born in London on Southdale Road. He will be missed by relatives and friends. Melvin was Road Superintendent of Westminster Township, Trustee of Glendale Public School, Public Works Manager of the Town of Forest, and Councilor for the Town of Forest. He was Past President and Life Member of the Ontario Good Roads Association, Honorary Life Member and Honorary Secretary-Treasurer of Ontario Road Supervisors, Founding Member of TJ Mahoney Road School and Instructor of Road Superintendents at the University of Guelph. Melvin was a Certified Senior Survey Technician. For 25 years, he volunteered for the St. Clair Region Conservation Foundation. Melvin was a Founding Member of Mt. Olive/Faith Lutheran Churches. As a genealogist and historian, he penned the family histories of the Dales, Fischers, Mahns, Kochs, and Mortons. He wrote the history of the Ontario Road Supervisors. Friends called at Faith Lutheran Church, 310 Southdale Road East, London, on Friday, January 24, 2014, from 12:00 pm - 1 :00 pm. A Funeral Service was held in the church at 1:00 pm. For those who wish, in memoriam donations to the St. Clair Region Conservation Foundation, MS Society, or to Organization for Literacy in Lambton would be appreciated by the family. During that time he also did custom farm work. In 1944, he purchased Pt L18 C1 Westminster Township. After a period of constuction employment, he was offered the position of road superintendent with Westminster Twp. in 1950 and remained there until 1972 when he assumed a position with the Town of Forest. Daniel held the original Crown Patent for 100 acres at Con 3 Lot25 S%, deeded on May 16,1843, property which he had been settled on for some 10 years. The land at Con 3 Lot25 eventually passed to his son Denis (Big Din) Callaghan. In 1834, the Hastings Militia rolls list Daniel as then living at Con 2 Lot25.
