11657 | Death Notice (JAnet Jeffrey Library Item 4 Page 5): "Deceased who was 62 years of age was a prominent member of the Board of the Women's Foreign Mission Society and had special charge of the Indian work in the Northwest and British Columbia. She was also President of the Aged Women's Home." Spoke at the WFMS in Stratford, several times, home of her brother-in-law Andrew Jeffrey. Lived at 4 St Vincent St Toronto at time of death. (is that now St Vincent Lane near Bay and Grenville?) LDS notes she lived in St Catherines Ontario! Cecilia Jeffrey Residential School near Kenora (https://presbyterianarchives.ca/2018/08/17/cecilia-jeffrey-school/) was named after her. It was founded in 1901 in her honour by the Presbyterian Church on good principles (https://archives.algomau.ca/main/?q=book/export/html/23716). However, as with all residential schools in Canada that ended up 'taking the indian out of the indian' and thus creating much trauma down the generations, it is the location of a recently famous story about stuudent Chanie Wenjack who died when trying to walk away from the school to go home in 1966. That story is immortalized in a book by Gord Downie called Secret Path, and song, in roughly 2017. | WALKINSHAW, Cecilia Mary (I93)

Mrs. Jeffrey had been ill for some weeks, of fever; and this terminated fatally about midnight on Sunday last. The deceased lady was well known in Cobourg, and universally beloved; and the news of her death will be received with regret on all hands.” A cousin? "Andrew Moscrept" is shown as having a foundry in 1851 (on page 146 of P. Clemo's book "Early Cobourg") | MOSCRIP, Agnes (I22)

11659 | Death notice of his wife Cecilia Mary (Jean Jeffrey Library Item 4 page 5): "Accountant of the Presbyterian Church offices" living at 4 Vincent St, Toronto. In 1894/5 he and family are listed as living at 142 Bloor St West, Toronto ("Elite Directory" published by James Bain & Sons as abstracted by Bill Cowan May 2020 in a file he called "Blue Book 1913") Mary Jeffrey Cross's death notice reports Andrew to have been of Toronto and having operated in the past (before 1902) an extensive hardware business in St Catherines (see Janet Jeffrey Libraray, Item 4, page 5) Mary Jeffrey's marriage to Dr Luther Cross was held at her brother's home in Toronto (130 Bloor St West) - probably the same brother Andrew mentioned in her death notice. (See both notices in Janet Jeffrey Library Item 4, page 25). Land Titles records in the Northumberland County Archives show that Andrew and Cecilia, in 1876, bought the North half of Lot 4 in Block D of Lot 16 Conc A (and half of the road). A & H Jeffrey (preusmably Anndrew and Henry) launched a 23 foot steam boat on the Avon River in Stratford in 1880 to give tours. 11662 | DEATH OF MOTHER AND DAUGHTER: Jane McCutcheon died very young, at the age of 33, soon after her third and final daughter was born. She never recovered fully after her last birth. She was incapable of caring for Sadie, so for the short two years of Sadie's life, she was raised by her grandparents, HR McCutcheon and Rebecca Lamott. Although the historical records do not reflect it, Jane died before her baby girl, Sadie. She thankfully never knew that her baby girl died. Sadie was two years old when she died. Records say that "Sarah" Jane McCutcheon died 22nd September 1906. However, the coffin breastplate from her casket says she died 23rd September 1904. This agrees with family recollections that say Sadie was raised by her grandmother, Rebecca Lamott McCutcheon. Mrs. Jane Pocket aged thirty years, beloved wife of Richard Pocket of Glensmith, and daughter of Robert McCutcheon of Springhill, died on Friday September 23rd at her home in Glensmith. Funeral services were held at 8 o'clock Sunday morning, the interment taking place in Neepawa. The deceased leaves a husband and three children to mourn her loss. The funeral was attended by a number of sorrowing relatives and friends. Ref: Find A Grave. - - - | MCCUTCHEON, Sarah Jane .2 (I209)
