Father Joshua Terry, B 1764 - died Nov 11 1827. East Palmyra, NY. The place of his birth has not been found of record, but he was probably born at or near Goshen, NewYork. His birth occurred during the time of the struggle for possession of the WyomingValley in Pennsylvania. The settlers had fled in 1763 after an Indian attack and did not return until
1769. Joshua was therefore born at some place of temporary refuge.
His boyhood seems to have been passed in the WyomingValley, Penn­sylvania. His name appears on the list of those in Forty Fort the night after the massacre, July 3, 1778. A Joshua Terry is listed as a member of Col. Nathan Denison's Regiment, in a detachment under the command of Col. Zebulum Butler. He married:

. The names of most of the early settlers of Monmouth are given in Proprietors' Records at Perth Amboy, but in a majority of cases, the year is not given when they came.
Rights of Land: 1676. William Lawrence, in right of self & sister, Hannah Lawrence, 240 acres.

Hannah is given as a daughter in the 15 Jul 1701, WILL of William Lawrence, but his mother's name needs to be better confirmed. Eliz. Gildersleeve was alive on 20 February 1663, so exact death date for Gildersleeve & the birth date of Hannah are needed.
Capt. Wm. Lawrence married on 4 Mar 1664 his second wife, Elizabeth Smith. Only the 3 Townley children are mentioned in Elizabeth Smith - Lawrence - Carterel -Townley's final will. Presumably Elizabeth felt her other Lawrence children were provided for already. - PJA 2010.

. 1992 Rhoda Skinner was recognized by the City of Scarborough, Ontario on Mothers Day as the Mother of the Year for having been mother to 18 children of her own & stepmother to another 18. When Rhoda married William Cornell in 1809 there were (reportedly) 7 children from Parshall Terry's first marriage, 12 children from Parshall & Rhoda's marriage & 11 children from William Cornell's first marriage. Rhoda & William then went on to have a further 6 children.

. 1808 Nov 5th, Sat. - The York Gazette announces that the editor intends publishing the memoirs of the late Parshall Terry, Esq., drawn up by himself & entertains the pleasing hope that they will be liberally subscribed to as the widow will be sole proprietress.
. 1906 added: If these memoirs ever appeared, which is doubtful, no copy is now extant. They would have been great interest, as Marshall Terry was an officer in the Butler's Rangers, & is believed to have known great deal about the affair at Wyoming.

After Parshall Terry was drowned in the Don River, July 23, 1808, his widow, Rhoda, married William Cornell. They were the parents of Ann, Eliza and Lydia Cornell.

13398 Hannah Louisa CARR (1851-1938) never married but in adult life kept house for her two borthers, James and Edward CARR until they died in 1910 and later kept a rooming house in Norwood, Ontario. As of 23 June 2011, according to a record card in the "card filing system" of the Norwood-Asphodel Cemetery, Hannah Louisa CARR was buried on 23 May 1938 in the Norwood-Asphodel Cemetery in "lot 76 / range 8". Although Hannah's brothers, James and Edward, are memorialized on a large granite tombstone in the Norwood the entire CARR family, that is, James, Edward and Hannah are, in fact, buried in "lot 76 / range 8" in the Norwood-Asphodel Cemetery in Norwood, Ontario. CARR, Hannah Louisa (I359)
