Obituary of her father:
1914 May 7 - FELL DEAD LEAVING THE CHURCH, Mr. Thomas Weatherston, of Everton, Stricken with Hemmorrhage, SECOND SUDDEN DEATH LATELY
Just a week from the day of the funeral of Mr. Wm. G. Cook, who was found dead in bed at his home near Ospringe, Mr. Thomas Weatherston, of Everton, passed away just as suddenly.
Mr. Weatherston, had gotten into the buggy, after attending the afternoon service in Ospringe Presbyterian Church on Sunday, & without any apparent struggle, he grew limp in the seat & died.
The incident caused much consternation, among those coming from the Church. Deceased had seemed in his usual good health that day & had attended the McLelland inquest at Everton the night before, where he had conversed with many of his friends.
Dr. McCullough, of Rockwood, was soon on the scene, & the body, which had been taken into a nearby house, was removed by a son to the family residence at Everton.
The late Mr. Weatherstone was 71 years of age & though of robust health in a general way, had suffered from heart trouble for some time.
The doctor pronounced death as due to a heart hemorrhage.
The deceased, who was known & highly esteemed in the neighborhood, leaves surviving his 3 sons & 4 daughters. They are John in the West, Thomas & George in Eramosa;
Mrs. McCutcheon, of Everton; Mrs. Hamilton, of Shiloh; Mrs. Blair & Mrs. Dalton, of Dalton, Manitoba.

. When on a visit to Grandma's house - how she would meet you at the door, all smiles, wearing her Mother-Hubbard wrapper, snugly belted in at the waist, made of these grey prints of so long ago & so long that her toes just peeked out when she walked. This, with her small black lace cap & tiny lavender bow in the front.

. Off the spacious kitchen were we ate our meals, was the pantry lined with shelves & dark as a dungeon, but we know where she kept those cookie cans. ...Saturday was bake day for the week. Can't you just see that washstand with washbasin, soap in a broken saucer, comb & brush & those 3 yards lengths of roller-towel used by one & all. - - -

. 1920 Oct 14h, Thurs. Nursing sister Mae Belle Sampson Honored by Hundreds from Country & Town
The Presbyterian Church in Duntroon was crowded to the doors on Sunday afternoon, when the people of Nottawasaga are joined by many from Collingwood in honoring a noble & heroic woman, nursing sister, Lieut. Mae Belle Sampson, C.A.M.C., who was killed in action on June 27th 1918 by the sinking of the Hospital Ship, Llandovery Castle by a German submarine.
The service with was beautiful & impressive throughout, according to the Bulletin, open by Rev D G Paton asking the congregation of between 3 & 400 to unite in singing:
Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty!
All They works shall praise Thy name in earth & sky & sea;
Holy, Holy, Holy, merciful & mighty,
God in Three Persons, blessed Trinity.
Mr Paton followed with a short pryer & invocation after which the congregation sang, Ready Kindly Light. Rev S Farley, preached an eloquent sermon, said in part: Today in this church of sacred memories & associations, we meet todo honor to the memory of sone whose devotion was not less lovely than that of Mary of old.It is not any intention to pay eulogy to the life & work of the late Nursing Sister Mae Belle Sampson. That will be more fittingly performed by the gallant Colonel, who with 2 other comrades, donates the tablet to be unveiled at the close of this service. It is fitting that such a tribute should be paid & one who had abundant opportunity of knowing something of the splendid service rendered by her whose memory we this day seek to keep green. In thus honoring this noble daughter of Nottawasaga in this church of her fathers, & amid the scenes of her childhood & young womanhood, these donators have honored themselves. here in this community she was born. here she developed those noble characteristics that latter bore such fruit on the blood stained fields of France. Here she was among the most active & enthusiastic workers of this church. While it is eternally true that her name liveth forevermore that there work & worth required no memorial, it is a very fitting thing, since we are a forgetful people, that this memorial brass should find its place within whose sacred walls were as a young woman she worshipped with you. May its silent appear speak to all sho worship here from Sabbath to Sabbath & to the generations that follow, reminding each & all that in a very real sense we are all debtors. That we are privileged to meet here as we do today issue in no small measure to the fact that once more we have been bought with a price! Yes, at a great price. The price of life itself. Dare we forget? Yonder the cold waters of the Atlantic sing the requiem of this heroine & her brave associates. Whilst it is not given us to hear that paean of praise let us ever remind ourselves that we have a duty to perform to the memory of such glorious souls. … sermon continues with no further biographical information.
Col. J A Currie unveiled the tablet, referred, feelingly, the the heroine who had been so foully murdered while ministering to suffering & dying soldiers & seaman. She had voluntarily returned to duty as a nurse on a hospital ship, one of the most dangerous in the service.

But the building's most distinctive feature was the huge fireplace, with neither jambs nor sides, which still stands. The oldest section of the Richmond Road structure is believed to have been built in 1662. Remarkably, the house stands as the only remaining building on Staten Island built under Dutch rule. In 1760, the Perrine family added a chamber or bedroom in the rear and in 1790, the Perines build a kitchen onto the original Billiou portion of the home; 1830, the Perines build another kitchen onto the Stillwell portion of the home.

The 2 oldest sections of the home overlap rather oddly. It is believed that rather than demolish a large, old tree near the corner of the older home, the family decided to build the newer portion to one side of the original building.
Originally built by Pierre Billiou, a Huguenot, who arrived at New Amsterdam fleeing religious persecution in Europe in 1661 and founder of Oude Dorpe (Old Town) in the same year, subsequently received a land grant on Staten Island, erecting the original stone section about 1665. His daughter Martha (1652-1736) inherited the property and resided there with her husband, Thomas Stillwell (1651-1705), and later with her second husband, Rev. David de Bonrepos (1654-1734). She married Rev. de Bonrepos in 1711. In 1679, Thomas Stillwell, a well-to-do landowner, enlarged the house. His and Martha's descendants, the Brittons, owned it until the mid-18th century.
It was then acquired by Edward Perine in 1758. The Perine family owned it until 1913. It has a shingled, sloping roof, and a Dutch jambless fireplace, which is very high and has a large stone hearth. A secret chamber opens into a room that features a ceiling with exceptionally large beams. 2012.

Her relatives had already begun to assemble from various parts of the country to attend the festivities in connection with the event. [b. 1813].

Note: Although the cemetery at Newtonbook would later be closed to permit the widening of Yonge Street, perhaps Margaret had her husband John Willson's remains transferred to Mt. . OBITUARY2: 1899 January 1 - York Pioneer Dead -
One of the oldest & best known residents of York Co. passed away very suddenly Friday in the person of Mrs. Mary [ Marg?] Wilson who died at the residence of her son-in-law Mr G.W Irwin of Willowdale.
Mrs Wilson death was totally unexpected. She woke up during the night & complained that her breathing was very labored, coughed a little & died in 5 minutes.
A pathetic incident in connection with her demise is that preparations were under way for her 86th birthday on Tuesday next & her sons & daughters were coming with their families. Mrs Wilson was born in York County 86 years ago & passed all her life here. Her husband who died 26 years ago was one of the largest land owners & most prominent men in York Co.
One of her sons, the late Arthur Wilson, was Reeve of York for a number of years & afterwards township clerk. He took a great interest in municipal matters & wrote several books, his last work being a collection of the municipal laws passed by the Ontario Government.

Mrs Jas Hannon of Stratford,
Mrs G. W. Irwin of Willowdale who lives on the homestead which her mother Mrs Wilson has occupied for the last 60 years.
