A note from Mrs. Marsh Little of Penplena, Cal. given the following particulars of the death of her sister, Mrs. David Pentland, known in her girlhood days in Acton as Nelly Johnson: "After a prolong illness death came to Mrs. Pentland, at her home at Penplena, Cal. on Monday Nov. 28. Mrs. Pentland's children & immediate relatives were present at the time of her sleeping. She had been in full health since last April. Afterwards she suffered extremely so that all were thankful when the end came in peaceful rest. She entered into rest on the same date as her wedding day, Nov 28th. Mrs. Pentland was the xxx of 10 children of late Mr. & Mrs. R L Johnston, who lived in Acton bet. 50 - 60 years ago. Of the 6 sons & 4 dau, the living here, Mrs. Rxx Little, widow of the late Robt. Little, public school inspector of co. of Halton. Much sympathy will go out to Mrs. Little in her bereavement & loneliness. Ref: Acton Free Press, 8 Dec 1921, page 6, column 1.
