18101 Phoebe is the daughter of Catherine & Adam Durst both born in Germany. DHURST, Phoebe (I313)

18102 Phoebe is the daughter of George Vernon, U.E. (1781-1862).

The children of Richard Vanderburgh & Pheobe Vernon are:

Leticia Vanderburgh, 1847 - 1909,
William Henry Vanderburgh, 1849 - 1908,
Sarah Jane Vanderburgh, 1851 - 1914,
Charles Moses Vanderburgh, 1849 - 1908.

Father of Phoebe Vernon:

CAPTAIN GIDEON VERNON, U.E.
Thomas, Randall, and Robert Vernon, 3 brothers, Quakers, came from Cheshire, England, & settled in William Penn's Quaker colony of Pennsylvania, in Chester County, in October 1682. Robert Vernon had been born probably between 1630 & 1645; he died in January or Feb 1709/l0; his wife was Elinor Minshall. One of their children wa sJohn Vernon, born 1679 in England; in 1702 he married Sarah Pyle (1682-l706). Their first child was Moses Vernon, born 26 June 1703, died 1767; on 23 October 1730 he married Abigail Woodward( 1710-1795).
Gideon Vernon, youngest child of Moses & Abigail, was born in 1743 in Nether Providence, Chester County, Pennsylvania. On 21 June 1775 he married Phoebe Farr. From the very beginning of the Revolution he was a Tory & did his best to harass the revolutionaries. In Sept 1777 he left home & joined the British. On 15 June 1778 he was attainted of high treason by the government of Pennsylvania; 6 weeks later his property (133 acres) was confiscated & sold. He served the British first as a spy, guide, & courier. Subsequently, despite his Quaker scruples, he joined the armed forces. On 9 April 1781 he was commissioned Captain of an Independent Company of Associated Loyalists; shortly thereafter he commanded a whaleboat & a party of troops on an excursion to the Delaware. He included an outline of his adventures during the Revolution in his claim for indemnification Ref: Ontario Archives, Report 2, 1904, P900-902).
After the war he was one of the group of Loyalist Quakers who sailed from NewYork on board the Camel in September 1783, & settled in Charlotte Co., New Brunswick, first at Bellevue (Beaver Harbour), & then at Pennfield. He was the first Sheriff of Charlotte Co.
In 1792 he came on to Upper Canada, & by Order-in-Council of 17 Oct. he received a warrant for 3000 acres. He returned to NB to bring his family, but was prevented from so doing by a severe fit of
rheumatism which continued intermittently for years. Finally in 1808 he was sufficiently recovered to move. His grant in Upper Canada was renewed on 10 December 1808. On 21 August 1812 he was given a Crown Patent to 300 acres in Gwillimbury East & 1100 acres in Scott. He also purchased Lot 35 Con 3, Whitchurch at Newmarket, where he settled. He died in 1836. He had 8 sons & 1 daughter., Phoebe Vernon.

VERNON, Pheobe (I1237)

18103 Phoebe MacDonald was raised by Great-Aunt Jane Felker Robinson. In 1832 she married Bob (Robert) Clyde & the farm on Lot 16S quarter, Con 7, W. Garafraxa, until 1947.

. Mrs. Jas. a few weeks after Pheobe married Bob Clyde Aunt Jane Robison died.

Record for further research:
'Mrs Thos. Connolly was a MacDonald girl, & her son Mac received the whole surname, MacDonald Connolly. He said originally their name was pronounced, "Conolly', with the stress on the 'awl" sound.
In a conversation with Pheobe Clyde, she said Mac was not a close cousin. Different generation.'
by Mrs. T J Hutchinson, Mar 23, 1981. - - -
MCDONALD, Phoebe Louise (I296)

18104 Phoebe Teeple, a daughter of George Teeple, married Charles Tozer. John M. Hale and Mrs. (Dr.) Cline are son and daughter of Mary Tozer, daugher of Phoebe Teeple, and are therefore great-grand-children of George Teeple, brother of Captain Peter Teeple. TEEPLE, Phoebe (I1605)

18105 Phoebe's connection with the Westbrook name is three-fold. Her aunt, Margaret Brinck, married Leonard Westbrook (1759-1827) in 1777. He fought for the Revolution and witnessed the Wyoming Massacre. He was an officer in the American militia in the 1790s but they lived in Westminster during the War of 1812, from 1811-1816, (I wonder if he was a spy??) and then moved to Ohio. Two of Leonard and Margaret's children (Phoebe's first cousins)married siblings of Peter McNames, Phoebe's husband: Nancy McNames married Cornelius Taylor Westbrook and Amos McNames (the one who left Canada in 1813 to live in the US) married Cornelia Catherine Westbrook (In 1830 Amos and Cornelia are living in Ohio next to Leonard's brother Cherrick Westbrook).

With all these Westbrooks floating around, I thought there must be a connection with Andrew Westbrook, who lived in Delaware. Sure enough: Andrew Westbrook was a second cousin of Leonard Westbrook. So there is no direct relationship with Andrew and Phoebe but there certainly are family connections.

I got this information from a Westbrook genealogy site: http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/m/i/x/Kimberly-Marie-Mix/GENE1-0025.html
