Marie for 4 months, Mrs. Amelia Abigail McCutcheon passed away there on April 22 at the age of 82. After living on the second line of Acton, she moved to Rockwood & then Guelph. For the past 19 years she had made her home with her daughter & son-in-law Mr Mrs T J C Redmond at Sault Ste. Marie. The funeral was held at the McInvine-Wilkie funeral home in Guelph on April 26, with interment at Everton cemetery. There were many beautiful floral tributes & messages of sympathy received. Pallbearers were J J Stewart, Ross Patterson, Clayton Barbour, Clarence Young, Kenneth Young & Ivan Hillmer. She was born in Guelph township in 1878, daughter of the late Robert & Abigail Young. She & David A McCutcheon were married at Erin in 1904. She was a member of St. Andrew's United Church, Sault Ste. Marie. There is trouble brewing for the owners of gang-saws. Thomas C Waters has bought a half interest in a patent issued about 15 years ago for an improvement in gang-saws, Amos Felker being the owner of the other half. It is claimed that the manner of hanging all the gangs now is use is an infringement upon this patent. Testimony is being taken by sprague, patent solicitor of Detroit; & if the claim is substantiated, the gang-saw owners will be required to come down handsomely for royalty. The parties working the scheme expect the harvest will me somewhere near $100,000. Bay City Press. In 1881 he sold out his interest & has since been working at his trade. Is a present with C. C. Lewis. Mr. Felker still resides in Essexville. . Incorporated: The village of Essexville as incorporated by Legislature in the Winter of 1868. Felker has another case on the docket, only a short time ago having been convicted at north Muskegon of keeping his saloon open on Sunday. This case he appealed to the circuit Court. . 1886 Apr 8 - The Supreme Court meets on April 6 & the following Muskegon case appear on the docket: People vs Amos H Felker. . 1886 Apr 21 - S H Clink went to Lansing yesterday to submit his argument in the cases of the People vs. Amos H Felker of North Muskegeon. . 1886 Apr 23 - Amos H Felker, a N. Muskegon saloonkeeper was arrested on 15 June for keeping his saloon open on Sunday. He was convicted by jury in Justice Hinds court, He appealed, but further sentence was deferred until the first day of the next term. Felker paid the info & entered into a recognizance & appeared at the next term of court for further sentence. In addition to the penalty before imposed he was sentenced to be confined in the county jail for 10 days. the other other case was one wherein Felker combined of on the 14 Nov. last for keeping his saloon open on Sunday, Nov 8. In this complaint he was complained of keeping his bar, connected with the tavern open on Sunday. Both charges were contained in the same court & Felker claimed this made the complaint bad for duplicity. Wm. Collins, the marshal of N. Muskegon was ordered to strike a jury. The respondent objected to this because Collins was prejudice & interested. In support of this claim several affidavits were filed. The objection was overruled. Felker was convicted & carried his case to the circuit court, on a write of certiorari. The cases were argued & submitted Wed. & yesterday the judgements in both cases were reversed. . 1888 Nov 24 - Mr. Herrick has had his store moved to the rear of the Felker House where he will shortly open a meat market. . 1889 Jul 27 - Chas. Burns, 46y & Ed Brown 29, are arrested in N Muskegon & brought to county jail. They are charged with burglary alleging that on night before last they broke into A H Felkers' meat market & carried off about $20 worth of meat. . 1890 Feb 13 - A Boarding House Burned. Abut half past 4 o'clock this morning fir broke out in A H Felker's 2 story boarding house, situated on the corner opposite the Cohasseset Lumber Co.'s office, at North Muskegon. The volunteer hose companies, under command of John Lynch, the new chief, responded promptly, but the fire has made too much headway before discovery, & consequently the building was totally destroyed. Some of the furniture & household goods were saved. Felker occupied the building as a boarding house & saloon. William Terry, b. c. 1855, at Fort Niagara, NY State; died in Illinois, Physician; married (1) Mary Reeves, b1739 NY; died in Ontario, Canada; married (2) Sara Cox; married (3) Mary Red, she died in Calhoon County, Illinois. 6. Joshua Terry, b 1789 NY, d. Michigan, daughter of Capt Elias Rerves. Alternate parent for research There was an Amy, daughter of Joshua Stevens, living at Goshen, about 20 miles north of NewYork City in 1777. She would have been about 7 years old at the time if source is correct. An Able Stevens moved with his family into Canada after the war & took possession of a grant of land near the Don River, next to that of Parshall Terry II.
