- Obituary Dec 6 1973:
Mrs Gladys Myers - Gladys Edna Myers, 74, the dau. of the late Robt & Anna Madeline Wheeler, was born June 18, 1899 in the Yukon community, & died nov 29, 1973 in Houston.
She was united in marriage to Herbert Ross Myers on Jan 24, 1919 & to this union 4 children were born:
Virginia, Dorene, Jacke & Herbert Monroe who preceded her in death at the age of 2 1/2 years. She is also preceded in death by her husband.
Surviving are her daus. Doreen Norris of Clara, Jackie Gentry & Virginia Altis of Houston; two brothers Roscoe & Bill Wheeler of Ellis Prairie,
6 sisters: Emma Vandiver, of Houston, Cora Anchors & Wilma Ehinger of Kansis City, Hortis Hollenbeck of Bucyrus, Irene Holland of Ellis Prairie & Madeline Cassen of San Jose, Calif.
& 4 grandchildren.
She moved to Ellis Prairie community at the age of 15, She with her husband reared their family & operated a general livestock farm in the Ellis Prairie community, & after the death of her husband, continued to operated it for 6 years before moving to Houston.
Mrs. Myers united with the Ellis Prairie Baptist church & moved her membership to the First Baptist church in Houston in 1946.
Funeral services was held Sat. Dec 1 at 10:30 am at the First Baptist church with Rev Lawrence Clark officiating. Burial was in emory Cemetery under the direction of Evans-Elliott.
