Nancy E. Myers was born in Alabama, March 11, 1858, daughter of Winifred & Burgess Myers. During early childhood she moved with her parents, brothers & sisters to Ellis Prairie, MO., where she grew to womanhood. February 10, 1878, she was married to Wm. Fielden. She was a teacher both before & after marriage. A few years after marriage she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour & friend & united with the Liberty Missionary Baptist church of Texas county, Mo. In 1889, she & her husband became charter members of Success Missionary Baptist church, where their membership remained until they united with the First Baptist church of Bolivar, Mo. She was a faithful & consistent Christian, a devoted wife, a loving mother & ever ready to help the sick & needy & give comfort to the bereaved.
To this union were born 2 children, Dora & Lucie.
The latter, Mrs. Moss F. Smith was with her during her last illness. She departed this life Monday, March 14, 1927, at 10 a.m., after a 12 day illness of measles. She had attained the age of 69 years & 3 days. Dr. J.H. Bridges was the attending physician & wife relatives & friends rendered faithful & loving service & thought all was going well until just a short time before her departure. The change came as a great surprise to all. A weak heart, no doubt, was the cause of fatality. Telegrams were sent to her daughter, Miss Dora Fielden who was teaching in South Mountain Industrial Institute, Bostic, North Carolina; also to her brother, J. S. Myers of Ellis Prairie, Mo. Miss Fielden came as quickly as bus & train service could bring her & arrived at 9:40 a.m., Wednesday March 16. The funeral service was conducted at the home at 2 p.m., March 17, by Rev. G.A. Bauey, pastor of First Baptist church of Bolivar, Mo. - - -
