      OBITUARY (of his mother) MRS. WILLIAM NELLES
      At the residence of her son, Thomas Nellis, Nassagaweya, on Tuesday afternoon, 13th January, Elizabeth Smith, widow of the late William Nelles, passed away after a long & painful illness, which was borne with Christian patience. Deceased was in her 72 year. She was born in Scarborough, Yorkshire, England, & emigrated to Canada with her late husband & their eldest son, William in 1866.
      They settled first in Chinguacousy, moving from thence to the Scotch Block, Esquesing, & finally to Nassagaweya where the family has spent the past 35 years. Her husband was instantly killed 29 years ago by falling on the ice near his home. A brother & a sister, Mr. George Smith, of Credit Forks, & Mrs. Burns, of England, survive, also 4 sons & 2 daughters,
      William at Guelph, George, Thomas and Smith in Nassagaweya,
      Mrs. John Graham, Eramosa,
      and Mrs. Frederick Johnston, Erin.
      One son, Benjamin, was drowned in Cuba about 4 years ago. The funeral was held on Friday, 16th inst., to Fairview Cemetery, Acton, and was largely attended. It was conducted by her pastor, Rev. George Clarke, Methodist Minister, assisted by Rev. J. H. Dodds, of the Presbyterian Church, Rockwood. The pall bearers were 6 intimate friends, Messrs. James Scott, James Clark, George Graham, Robert Wansbrough, Walter Lamb & William Murray.

      Obituary: Smith B Nellis
      Service at the Rockwood United Church on Wed. Afternoon marked the passing of Smith Burns Nellis, RR 1,Rockwood. Mr. Nellis dies suddenly on Monday, a victim of a heart attack. He was in h is 70th year.
      Native of Scotch Block, Esquesing Twp., he was born Nov 7, 1875, a son of Wm. Nellis & Elizabeth Smith. Later living at Blue Springs, Nassagaweya, he moved to the Fifth Line of Eramosa in Dec. 1917. Mr. Nellis was a farmer, staunch Liberal & member of Rockwood United Church.
      His wife, Julia Ann Johnston died at their home Jan. 25, 1932. She was born in Erin Twp., a daughter of Herbert Johnston & Martha Leslie. Two child survive:
      Cecil Rae Nellis at home;
      Mrs Robert Williamson, RR 3, Rockwood. Also remaining are 2 brothers:
      Thomas of Nassagaweya &
      Robert, of Erin,
      A sister, Mrs. Fred (Gertrude) Johnston, Acton
      & 3 grandchildren.
      Three brothers & a sister predeceased him: Wm. Geo. Gen & Mrs John Elizabeth Graham.
      Rev John Ward officiated at the funeral services. Pall bearers included Alex Brydon, Lorne Allan, Geo. Harwood, Wilbert Smith, Robt Major & Robt Alexander.
      Henry Nellis, Bill Johnston, Alfred Winters, Lloyd Burt, Bert Nellis, Chester Allen, Mansell Neillis & Norriah Leader were flower bearers.
      Interment was at Fairview Cemetery, Acton.
