Will of William G. Hatcher, Sr., 1862-1931, GA

      Surname: Hatcher

      Georgia Crisp County:
      I, W. G. Hatcher Sr., of said State and County, being of sound and disposing mind and memory, do make this, my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all other Wills made by me;

      Item One.

It is my will and I direct that my executor hereinafter named, shall, as soon as possible after my death, pay any just debt which I may owe, using for such purpose any funds or money that may be in hand and if a sale of personal property be necessary for this purpose, or for any other purpose under this will, he may sell the same at private or public sale, as he may elect without any order of any court.

      Item Two.

It is my will and I direct that, as soon as consistent with the interest of my estate, after my death, he shall sell all of the personal property of every kind, character and description or decree to cash belonging to my estate, including notes, accounts, mortgages choses in action, and hold and distribute the funds arising therefrom, as well as all money, or cash coming into his hands, according to the provisions of the following Items of this will, after the payment of any indebtedness which I may owe at that time, or that may be owed by my estate.

      Item Three.

I give, bequeath and devise to my wife, Addie L. Hatcher, the sum of Five Dollars. I have already expended for my said wife in improvements placed upon her lands and in taxes advanced and paid thereon, considerable sums of money, from time to time, during the last past several years, the lands referred to being the separate estate of my said wife. For this reason, I have limited her distributive share as a legatee in this will, to the sum named herein.

      Item Four.

I give, bequeath and devise to my son, Robert Hatcher, the sum of Five Dollars to be paid from any funds on hand, or that may come into the hands of my executor.

      Item Five.

I give, bequeath and devise to my son Johnnie Hatcher the sum of Five Dollars to be paid from any funds that may come into the hands of my executor. In the event of my death prior to the time that my said son should have attained the age of 18 years, should he elect or desire to take a vocational education, it is my will, and I direct that my executor shall pay from any funds in his hands, an amount up to the sum of $300.00, to be expended by my said son, or by his guardian, for tuition, board and books.

      Item Six.

I give, bequeath and devise to my son, Ward Hatcher, the sum of $10.00 per month, to be paid monthly until he shall have arrived at the age of Fourteen years, payable out of any funds in hand, belonging to my estate. In the event he shall desire to take a vocational education, he shall be given a maximum amount of Three Hundred dollars to be paid on board, tuition and books, said amount to be paid by my executor from any funds on hand belonging to my estate.

      Item Seven.

I give and bequeath to my son, Harvey Hatcher, the sum of Ten Dollars per month until he shall arrive at the age of Fourteen Years, and, in the event he shall elect to take a vocational education, he shall be given a maximum amount of Three Hundred dollars on board, tuition and books. The several sums herein devised shall be paid by my executor from any funds coming into his hands, belonging to my estate.

      Item Eight.

I give and bequeath to my son, James Wilson Hatcher, the sum of ten dollars per month until he shall arrive at the age of fourteen years, and, if he should elect to take a vocational education, an additional amount not to exceed Three Hundred dollars to be paid on board, tuition and books, the above devised sums to be paid out of any funds coming into the hands of my executor, belonging to my estate.

      Item Nine.

After the payment of the sums as above set out in the foregoing Items of this will, it is my will, and I direct that my said executor shall divided, share and share alike, among my other seven children, to wit: W. G. Hatcher Jr., T. E. Hatcher, Mrs. T. E. Bolin, G. M. Hatcher, S. H. Hatcher, Earl Hatcher, and Earnest Hatcher, any sum remaining on hand, the proceeds of my personal property, and should any one of my said children named in this Item of my will die prior to said distribution leaving surviving child or children, then such surviving child or children shall inherit in lieu of any such deceased parent, per stripes; and should any child, or children of mine named herein die leaving surviving no child or children, then the portion of any such deceased child or children, shall be divided equally between the brothers and sister herein named, who may survive, or the child or children of any such deceased sister or brother, who may survive, the child or children referred to, inheriting per stripes in lieu of any such deceased parent.

      Item Ten.

In the event all, or either of my children named above, to wit: Johnny Hatcher, Ward Hatcher, Harvey Hatcher and James Wilson Hatcher, or either of them, do not elect to take a vocational education, then and in such an event, the amount herein devised for that purpose to any such child or children, shall revert to the corpus of my estate, and shall be divided among the seven children named in Item Nine of this will, said division to be made in accordance with the provisions of said Item Nine.

      Item Eleven.

In addition to the bequests already made, I give and devise to my son, Ward Hatcher City lots number 6 and 7 on Block number 114 in the City of Cordele Georgia without limitations of any kind, and to be his forever; to my son Harvey Hatcher, I devise and bequeath lots Six and Thirteen in Block 287 in the City of Cordele to be his forever, and to my son, James Wilson Hatcher, I devise and bequeath lots number Four, five and six in Block 65 as appears from map of survey of Cordele Ga., to be his forever.

      Item Twelve.

I hereby authorize and direct my executor hereinafter named, to carry into effect the provisions of the several Items of this will respecting the distribution and expenditure of all personal property, money or effects, including the allotments for support and education of my minor children, and for this purpose said executor is directed to act as testamentrary guardian for any and all of my children who may be minors at the time of my death, in holding and paying out the bequests hereunder, according to the provisions of this will.

      Item Thirteen.

I hereby constitute and appoint my son, W. G. Hatcher Jr., as executor of this my last will and testament, hereby relieving him of bond, and of the necessity of applying to any court for leave to sell any of the personal property herein devised, or disposed of.

      Item Fourteen.

Should I die seized and posessed of any property of any kind, not herein devised, then it is my will, and I so direct, that it shall be divided, share and share alike, among the beneficiaries as named and set out in Item Nine of this Will.

In Testimony Whereof, I have hereto set my hand this the 2nd day of August 1930.
