      Hon. S H Terrill, Comptroller, Austin, Tex.
      Dear Sir: I am sending my explication for Confederate Pension & am sending further information as to my service.
      I enlisted in May 1862 in Company F 45h Reg. La., Capt. Favnot, Geo. Lennon, 1st Lt. William Geter, 2nd Lt. Col. Allen, Commanding Lt. Hunter, Second in command.
      Served from May until August 1862 when I was wounded at the Battle of Baton Rouge. I was furloughed, then discharged. I crossed to Texas & reenlisted at Hempstead in the early part of 1864. This time in 25th Texas Calvary under Col. Gillespie, Commanding Capt. Herring. Company D. Served until Apr 1865 wherein I was discharged at Marling Tex. I have never applied for a pension. Have been able to work and get along fairly well. I am now past 80 years of age & broken down. I live in Falls, Texas for 36 years & have been in Motley & Fisher Counties for last 25 years. Can give many references in all these counties. Others would be please to refer you to following citizens:
      Sam R Scath, Dist Judt McLennan, N J Lhewellyn, Marlin, Ex Dist. Judge,
      Ex Judge J D Barker, Assc. Texas, is Expert to Furnish all necessary proof except any of my old comrades, they are all dead. I would be glad to furnish anything that would be necessary,
