    • 1981 Aug 5 - Samuel Horace Jones, 79, died Monday at Lyons District Hospital. Born Nov 24, 1901, at Lyons, He married Mary Vermillion July 10, 1932, at Greensburg. He was the retired editor of the Lyons Daily News & was a longtime resident of the area.
      He was the past director of the Kansas State Historical Society; co-founder of the Rice County Museum; past director of the Lyons Chamber of Commerce; past member of the Lions Club & Kiwanis Club, all of Lyons.

      Survivors: widow, of the home; son, Paul, Lyons; daughter, Mrs Carolyn Sayler, Lyons; 5 grandchildren.
      Funeral will be 10:30 am Thursday at the Sillin-Crawford-Miller Funeral Home, Lyons; the Rev Jay Anderson. Burial will be at the Lyons Municipal Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 pm until 9 pm.
