    • Israel Willson, born 5 Dec 1799, son of Phebe & David Willson, Yonge Street Meeting House, Book H-15-1, p.2.
      Ref: Quaker Archives & Library of Canada, Canadian Yearly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers).

      When David Willson and his family were moving to Ontario, they were ship-wrecked during a violent storm on the voyage across Lake Ontario. The Willson family only survived by lashing the 2 children to their spinning wheel, which David managed to drag ashore.

      The friends appointed to inform Israel Willson of the meetings conclusion to disown him, report they informed him, & they produced an essay of a Testimony against him which was read approved & signed James Kinsey & Francis Wasley are appointed to offer him a copy thereof, inform him of the right of appeal & report to next meeting.
      The testimony is as follows - Israel Willson a member of this meeting has so far
      deviated from our order as to join the Militia & attend trainings, & having been treated with on that account, but he not being in a disposition to make satisfaction at this time we hereby disown him from being any longer a member of our religious Society, till he makes satisfaction to Friends. Signed in & on behalf of Yonge Street Monthly Meeting held the 15th of 8th Month, 1828, Thomas Linvill Clerk at this time.
