Frank Osborn plays the [religious] doctor in charge of the work of the Associated charities & he gives quite a professional touch to the character.

      . 1921 Dec 2 - Harry Gering, aged Watervleit farmed found, gagged & left to die. Stanley Gaska, local Austrian murdered, thrown into Lake Michigan. Wm J Handy, former Sodus Farmer, local commission man, beaten, robbed, murdered, his body weighted & thrown into the St. Joseph River. Ferrier County's murder record from Apr 1 to Dec 1, 1921. Solution of the murder, is believed to depend in large measure upon the circumstances of the unidentified stranger's relations with the murder vice. Mrs Badger today confirmed that Handy engaged her husband for the Niles trip. Handy never arrived at his destination. …
      Stranger made Inquires: The movements of handy's companion, have hover been, tied farther bak than the return trip from Niles. Frank Osborn, proprietor of a feed & storage barn on Colfax Avenue between West Main * 6th streets said Thursday night night that on the day Handy was in Niles, a tall slender, man came to his office & inquired as to Handy's whereabouts. Osborn says retold the visitor that Handy was in Niles with a car of potatoes.Osborn was unable to give a detailed description of the man, but according to Mrs Brader's account of the description told her by her husband, the stranger must have been the individual who approached Osborn.
      Osborn was able to give considerable information regarding the murdered man's temperament & habits, as handy was in his employ during the early summer months. Handy was at times nearly distracted over his family troubles, declared Osborn & wold become confidential with anyone who would listen sympathetically to his story. Handy according to Osborn, invariable carted 2 pocketbooks with large sums of money. Sheriff Bridgman believes Handy had between $600-$700 on his person the night of the murder. When found, the body's clothing revealed only a knife, bill of lading & one cent in money.

      . 1922 Jun 3 - Recovers from Injuries. Frank Osborn of Washington Street, is recovering from injuries received 2 weeks ago when he fell from a ladder while painting his home, breaking a rib & during a shoulder & his shoulder.

      . 1923 Mar 9 - Trial continues. Description Hazy, One of the afternoon's early witness was Fran Osborn, proprietor of a feed baron, Colfax Avenue which Handy made his headquarters. Osborn was a defense witness. He restituted that on the day Handy was supposed by him to be in Niles, a man whom he had never seen called & inquired for there murdered man. Osborn said the man was tall & thin, He could give no further description & said he did not learn where he came from his name of his destination. On cross examination, Osborn was certain the individual was not Badger. He testified that Godfrey, a former partner, called Badger nearly every night following the discovery of handy's Body in the St. Joseph river.

      . 1928 Jun 6, A runaway - reminiscent of the good old days, before Benton Harbor had well paved street - furnished the business district with some excitement Tues. afternoon. A team, drawing a dump car owned by Frank Osborn, local drayman & drives by John Harper, broke into a run at the railway tracks & ran up Main street with aberrant disregard of traffic signals, pole & other traffic. Harper gamely struck to the baton, but was unable to control the animals. One of them finally fell in front of the Gilmore Brother store on W Main & Colfax & the runaway was stopped. No damaged was done to wagon, Harper nor the horses were injured.

      Obituary
      . 1936 Apr 18 - Funeral Services For Frank Osborne To Be Held Monday. C Frank Osborne, 65, well known Benton Harbor business man will be held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Reiser chapel. The Rev Edward Montgomery will officiate. Burial will be made in Pearl Grange cemetery.
      Ten days of hiccoughing, said by physicians to have been caused by a tumor, caused his death Friday at 11:45 am. in the home of a daughter Mrs Alan Lewis, 380 North Hull ave.
      Besides this daughter, he leaves another daughter Mrs. Henry Bellinger, 724 Territorial road, to whose home the body was taken today & where friends may pay their respects & the hour of the funeral Monday. He also leaves a brother, William Osborn. There are 4 grandchildren.

      . The late Mr Osborn was born Jul 12, 1871 & in 1885? was married to Mildred Ann Cunningham, who died in 1900. Later in 1920 he was married to Ruby Miller, who dies in 1934. He survived by his former wife's parents, Mr & Mrs Geo. Cunningham & a step-son David Miller of Twelve Corners.
