  On 6 Sept 1787, George and Tobias Meyers are entitled to 200 acres and have drawn Lot 7 in front, consisting of two hundred acres in full in Seignure of No 8 (became Sidney). Source: Township Papers, Hastings, AO, MS 658, reel 442, #87, copy Meyers files. DEATH: "Tobias died in a tragic accident. Bears had been bothering the farmers, so Tobias and George (his brother) went out one night when there was a full moon to see if they could shoot it, as it would crush the cornstalks in the field. They separated in the cornfield and lost sight of one another. George thought he heard the bear and shot, but it was his brother, Tobias, who lay dead in the field.
