• Notes

  Margaret's made name was Spears. She came from Lucknow, to which area her parents had travelled by wagon, across country from Bond Head. She was a niece of Mrs. Bosomworth of Elora (who trained the girls as dressmakers. Great-grandmother Spears may have been a Sharp. Because of this relationship, Margaret Spears came to Elora to learn dress making from a Miss or Mrs. Bosomwith. Wm. Spears was her brother.
