• Notes

  The following two family heirlooms belonged to Luella: the spool bed presently at Gladys (Pearon) Moore's in Stoney Creek and given to Jay Moore by Edith (Fern) Moore and the upholstered rocking chair and matching foot stool given to Jay Moore in Kitchener by his brother, Peter from Toronto. The Mattice Coat of Arms is described in what Douglas Mattice (b. 1958) referred to as "our family book" as follows: "The Coat of Arms consists of two banners, one scarlet over one of black. On the scarlet banner are three dice. Above the banner, a helmut or crown of Gold, with a forearm and hand holding and ax. The sleeve is of gold as is the ax handle. The blade is silver. Under the banner is a ribbon banner carrying the motto "Gro - Quad - Gram" - I Shall Be What I Have Been. In the book there is a picture of Joseph Mattice. He is wearing clothing that seem to be from the late 1800s but there is no date assigned to it.
