"Fred lived with his family in Peterborough and worked as a boiler maker in 1891 but, at the time of his mother's death a year later, he was in Michigan. In 1895 he lived in Toronto, Kansas with his older brother, John. In 1910 he was working as an electrician in Plymouth, Indiana; indeed, that census record indicates that he emigrated to the U.S. in 1892 and became a naturalized citizen."
