      Mrs. Mabel Sage Dies After Brief Illness

      Funeral services for Mabel Kerr Sage were held Monday at 2 p.m. at the McAninch chapel, with the Rev. Dr. W. J. Fowler of Crawfordsville officiating. Organ music by Mrs. W. H. Bonn included two hymns "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In the Garden."

      Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Rohrer and Miss Eletha Harrier had charge of flowers.

      Pallbearers were grandsons and nephews of the deceased: David Kerr, Gene Lawlor, Bob Sage, Richard Sage, John Becker and Jack Wodstrichill.

      Interment was made in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.

      Mabel Kerr Sage was born in Victor, Iowa on Dec. 16, 1875, the daughter of Emily L. and David S. Kerr. She spent her early life in Victor, and after graduating from High School, she was a teacher for three years in country schools and for five years in Victor Public Schools.

      She was united in marriage Dec. 29, 1901 to Wendell Everett Sage. They made their home in South Dakota until the death of Mr. Sage on Jan. 29, 1931.

      In 1936, she came to Victor; her sister, Flora came in August, and together they made their home in the old Kerr homestead.

      In early life she joined the Congregational Church of Victor, later taking her letter to the Methodist Church in Huron, South Dakota.

      Mrs. Sage died Saturday, Aug. 9 at 5:30 a.m. at her home, after a week's illness. Her health had been failing for some time due to a heart condition. She had attained the venorable age of 82 years, 7 months and 23 days.

      She leaves to mourn her passing, two adopted sons, Fred L. Sage of Watertown, South Dakota, and Donald R. Sage of Ellendale, North Dakota, and one adopted daughter, Mamie Louise Meier of Blairstown, Iowa; nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; three sisters, Flora Kerr Grant, Mary Kerr, and Ruth Kerr Smith, all of Victor; and two brothers, Karl Kerr of Victor, and Harvey Kerr of West Liberty, Iowa. One brother and two sisters preceded her in death.
