Obituary
1955 Oct 27 - Olin was the son of John D. & Hattie Wilson. He was the husband of Cleo Wilson. He died from injuries sustained in an automobile accident at the age of 54 yrs old.
Olin Wilson, 54-year-old Ft. Wood employee & a longtime resident of the Huggins community, was instantly killed about 1:30 Wednesday morning in a one-car accident about one-fourth mile south of Highway 17 on Rt. 38. Investigators said Mr. Wilson, who for 25 years had had various contracts to haul United States mail from Huggins, apparently lost control of his 1955 Chevrolet. The car left the highway & crashed into 2 trees near the road. The automobile was apparently traveling at a high rate of speed, officers said, & death was believed to have been caused by a broken neck.
Mr. Wilson resided on a farm between Dykes & Huggins & was widely known in the western section of Texas county. Since his employment in the laundry at Ft. Wood, Mrs. Wilson has been carrying the mail.
In addition to his wife, the former Cleo Yarnall, he is survived by 2 sons, Olin, Jr. of Los Angeles & Dickie Ray, a freshman at Houston high school; one daughter, Fern Bettes, of Huggins; his parents, Mr. & Mrs. J.D. Wilson of Houston & several brothers & sisters. Members of the family said the funeral probably would be held Sunday afternoon but arrangements have not been completed. Elliott's of Houston will be in charge.
