    • 1917 Jun 5, Tues. BROTHER TO CLAIM BODY OF DEAD MAN. Chief Davis Locates Relatives of Allen McCutcheon Shot Monday Morning.
      Chief of Police Davis has succeeded in locating the relatives of Allen McCutcheon, who was host early Monday morning by Charles Nolan, 16 years old, while entering the home of the latter through widow. A telegram was sent to the chief of police at Superior, Wis. & in this way the chief here got into communication with a brother of the victim, S. McCutcheon, who is said by Charles J Vance, a roommate of the dead man to be an alderman in the city where he lives. Dances, late yesterday afternoon went to the police station after reading an account of the tragedy in the Times Tribune & then proceeded to the undertaking rooms of Geo. N Ewell, where he identified the dead man as his died & companion. Both came here only a few days ago & obtained employment at E B Foss & Co.'s lumber yard.
      vance said the last time he saw McCutcheon was early in the evening on Sunday night. At that time he was in a normal condition & he could not account for what subsequently took place. He further stated the McCutcheon's aged parents reside at Canfield, Manitoulin Island, Canada & that he family is highly respected.
      This morning the chief of police received a telegram from S. McCutcheon, the victim's brother, requesting that the body be embalmed & that the would arrive in the city Wednesday night to take charge of it. Whether the burial will take place here, or the body taken to Canada is not known.

      1917 Jun 7, Thus. R. McCutcheon, of Superior, Wis. arrived in Bay City last night to kale charge of his bother, Allen McCutcheon, who was shot by Chas. Nolan, early Monday Morning. The identification of the remains was complete. Mr. McCutcheon stated to the authorities that his relative was not a criminal, never having been in any kind of trouble before. He left with the remains at 10:55 today for Sandfield, Manitoulin Island, Canada, were the parents reside.
