    • Michigan Death Certificate # 262,
Chas. W. Teetzel, Born 1837 April 6; Died 29 Jan. 1901; children: 8 of 11 children living in 1901, Father John S Teetzel, Born New Jersey. Married.
      - Cause of death: Paralysis, Reporter Charley Teetzel, Lynn, Mich.

. 1818 - Palermo Cemetery, Dundas Concession 1, SDS Lot 29 & 30 A parcel of land was sold to by Teetzel for the sum of £2 & 10 shillings. The agreement said the land was "forever for the sole & proper use of a place to bury the dead for them & as many of the inhabitants of Trafalgar lying between the Twelve & Sixteen Mile Creeks as may think proper to join them: as also for a Meeting House & a school house should the same at any time be required."
A log church was built in 1812 on the low where the cemetery now is. The Wesleyan Methodists were first mentioned in an article in the Christian Guardian in 1851. Two frame churches stood on either side of the cemetery & can be seen on the 1858 Tremaine Map. In 1867, 17 years before the general union of Methodist churches, they united & built the present church. At the time of the union, a small minority continued to worship in the small frame church. Eventually it was closed & used as a stable. (Taken from a history by Rev. M.J.H. Aiken, 1962.)

. 1808 Elder William Case, of the Ancaster Circuit of the Methodist Episcopal Church, began to preach in the homes of pioneers in Trafalgar Township. This property was deeded in 1818 for a burial ground & a meeting house. By 1824, the Trafalgar Chapel had been built here.
The Methodist Episcopal Church in Canada united with the Wesleyan Methodist Church of Great Britain in 1833 to form the Wesleyan Methodist Church in Canada. However, several dissident preachers met here on March 10, 1834, to organize a continuing Methodist Episcopal Church. On June 27, 1835 in this chapel the Rev. John Reynolds was elected & consecrated to the office of Bishop.
A Wesleyan Methodist Chapel was also built on this site in 1848. Both were replaced in 1869 by the present church a short distance to the west now known as Palermo United Church. "Erected by the Canadian Methodist Historical Society at Palermo Cemetery - 1997."

. 1888 May 3, Teetzel Local Heirs meeting, heirs to Teetzel estate in Germany, held at the office of Dr Bell, Tues. evening. The whole questions hinges on their ability to prove that the estate, now oath several millions dollars, legally belongs to the descendants of John Solomon Teetzel, who emigrated from Germany to this country many years. John Teetzel of St. Thomas, Canada, attended the meeting here, & the local branch as follows: Hiram Teetzel, president, Chas W Teetzel, vice-president; Dr Geo Bell, secretary & treasurer.

. 1889 Apr 4 - Annual Election Lynn. The entire union ticket was elected here by large majorities: Chas. Teetzel, Constable.
