Northfolk Families, Patteson:
he names of Patteson or Patterson * were not uncommon in Norfolk in early times, but the best known (the brewers) came into Norwich from
Birmingham in the 18 century, probably through the marriages of 2 of the family with Norwich people.
1) John Patteson of the “Swan” Inn, Birmingham, said to have been a great sufferer in the Royalist cause, by Anne Sparke had
(2) Henry Spark Patteson of the “Bell,” Birmingham, who married Millicent Colborne of Norwich (his sister Anne married the Rev. Edward Wace, Rector of Hilborough, Norfolk), & was father of
(3) Henry Spark Patteson, b. 1684, d. 1765, married his cousin Catherine Wace, & had
(4) Henry Spark Patteson, ironmonger and free man of Norwich (admitted 1755), b. 1725, d. 1764, married Martha Fromanteel & was father of 7

((2) Henry Staniforth Patteson, J.P., D.L, of Cringleford, Sheriff 1858, Mayor 1862, Captain of the Norfolk Volunteers, b. 1816, d. 1898. He married Isabella Katherine Partridge of Hockham (q.v.), & had
(8) Col. Henry Tyrwhitt Staniforth Patteson of Beeston Hall, D.L., b. 1851, Sheriff of Norwich 1903, High Sheriff of Norfolk 1907, married Rosa Chambers, & has issue.
(9) John Dossie Patteson, b. 1889, & Robert Wace Patteson, b. 1895.
