Obituary of Brother-in-Law:
PAAUWE, GERALD Gerald Leon Paauwe, of Grand Rapids & North Muskegon, went with open arms & a smile on his face to the Lord on Friday, October 4, 2013. He was a loving husband, father & grandfather. Gerald was preceded in death by his wife Nancy.
He will be greatly missed by his children, Jerry and Nancy Jo of Venice, FL, Brenda and Dr. Lawrence Pawl, April and Mark Donaker, Craig Paauwe Sr. of Holland, Heather Paauwe and Motoyuki Otsuka of NYC;
grandchildren: Amber (Matt) Gowen, Amy (Nate) Bowman, Luke Vredeveld, Jared Vredeveld, Craig Paauwe, Jr, Tessa Paauwe, Amanda (Gerson) Lopez, Katrina (Ryan) Scoglietti, & Mark Donaker, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Nathan Jr., Gerson, Jr., Aqua Lili, Jadalynn, & Liam; his special friend, Marlene Dykstra.
He is also survived by his brother, Martin; brother-in-law, Neil VanderMaas;
> sisters-in-law, Norma Dausman, Patricia Renner, Peggy (Bill) Roger, Joline McCarty; & numerous nieces & nephews.
Gerald served in WWII with the 1539th U.S. Army Air Force stationed in occupied Japan 1946-48. He worked at S. Abraham & Sons before taking his passion for numbers and people to become a financial advisor. Gerald worked for IDS, American Express and Regal Investments. He had a strong work ethic & active practice until age 79. Jerry loved fishing, deer hunting, & working with his hands. He built and remodeled many cottages, homes & his hunting cabin. The Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, high noon at St. Alphonsus Church followed by Military Honors. Interment Washington Park Cemetery.
