Chrisholm - Halton Co. - the petition of James Stringer & 67 others, of Esquesing, Erin, Caledon & Chinquacousy, praying for £1000 to repair the road from Guelph to Dundas: of John New, Thomas Works, Henry Catchpole, & 37 others … Pursuant to the order of the day, the Wiltsie Navigation bill, was read the third time. On the question for passing the bill, the years & nays were taken. Yeas 27, Nays 5. for An Act to afford aid, by way of loan, to the Gananoque & Wiltsie Navigation Co., & to amend the Act of Incorporation of the said Company.

Notes5: Wife's name does not appear on documents & Henry Sr. appears not to have a son to give his tin & plaster tools. No actually date of Henry's death was given, but he was deceased by 3 Oct. 1853.
Elsewhere, Land transactions show granddaughter, Mary Patterson received money in 1856, implying the death of both grandparents & mother. The Will does not give the name of Mrs. Henry Catchpole, Sr. - PJA.
. 1865 Sep 30 - SHERIFF'S SALE OF LANDS. County of Wellington, SATURDAY, to wit the 23 December, A. D., 1865, at noon, will be sold at Public Auction, at my office, in the Court House, Guelph, the following lands & tenements of ROBERT SUNLEY, Executor of the late Henry Catchpole, deceased, seized under & by virtue of a Writ of Fieri Faoias [i.e. to enforce judgements obtained] issued out of the Court of Common Pleas, to satisfy costs of defense adjudged to John Newman, in said Court in a certain action of ejectment:
viz.: Lots Five A & Five B, in the block known as Prior's property, on the northerly side of Quebec street, Guelph; also, lots numbers 86* & 101 Canada Company's Original Survey, in the said town of Guelph. Sheriff's Office, George J Grange, Sheriff C.W.

. SUNLEY, George died March 1857, 1846 listed as a merchant, 1849 listed as a member of the fire company. The election for Guelph & the township it was part of was held in Thorp's Assembly Room at the British Hotel on January 7, 1850 with about 300 persons present. George Sunley was a candidate for the Reform Party & he was elected to Town Council with 251 votes. The first meeting of this council was held at the Frog Pond Tavern, on Eramosa Road on January 20, 1850 & the next at Alex Blythe's Tavern at Marden. 1852-1853 Town Councillor, 1853. Geo. Sunley, Guelph Councilor, 1852, 1853, West Ward Guelph, 1857; Mayor 1857.

. SUNLEY, Noah was born on February 25, 1828 in England 1871, nurseryman living in Guelph, & died on March 12, 1904 buried Woodlawn Cemetery Guelph married Esther Ann Webster, 1847 listed as a businessman 1873 Director of the Guelph Horticultural Society, 1881 listed as a gardener on Grange Street.
. 1856 GUELPH UNION CEMETERY, Description:
Court House, Guelph May 2nd, 1856, half past 2 P.M. forthwith that the disposal of grass on Union cemetery. Surveying the grounds of Union Cemetery will be completed by 1 July next. Payment of 1s. 3d for each burial in St. Geo. Cemetery isn equivalent for the expense necessary. Erection of the entrance lodge, roads, walks turf grass, plantations & adorning the grounds of both Cemeteries & exterior fences. St. Georges Cemetery & Guelph Union Cemetery purchased 30 acres for a Cemetery, adding 10 A. by St. George's Vestry. Cost of burial upwards £170. St. Geo. church desire the Cemetery Keeper to continue his services as grave-digger in their portion of the grounds.
In the event of Geo. Bates being dismissed from the situation of Cemetery Keeper, he be required to leave the Cow Shed erected on the property or if not the price of the lumber in the same to be deducted from his salary. Claim of £1. 5 as compensation for being deprived of feed for his cow on the Cemetery, be paid. Prepare 23 feet of fallowed & for planting trees in the Fall around Cemeteries, along Guelph & Arthur Rd. Dispose of the cedar post & lumber remaining on the Cemetery, the same not being required for present use. During the past year they have laid out walks on the Cemetery Grounds & erected a board fence about two-thirds of the way around the same.
The old Cemetery, situated in the angle between left side Wyndham & Woolwich streets, behind the American hotel, & on the opposite side, where the Alma block now stands, was a triangular piece of land, purchased by Mr. Pryor, & for many years afterwards known as Pryor's field. Later the burial ground, having been condemned, a plot of land, visiting of 40 acres situated in the Scotch Block, on the Elora Rd, was purchased.

. Woodlawn Memorial Park is an 80-acre historic cemetery located in the north end of the city of Guelph. In 1853, two adjoining cemeteries were established at this location: Union Cemetery, named for its joint ownership by the Town & the Township of Guelph, & St. George's (Anglican) cemetery owned by St. George's Church. The first burial in Union Cemetery was that of James Scroggie in January of 1854. In the early1880's, the bodies were disinterred from the 2 downtown cemeteries, St. George 's Anglican Church, & Public Burying Ground, & transferred to the new cemeteries.
