    • According to "History of the Counties of Argenteuil, Quebec and Prescott, Ontario", by Cyrus Thomas (1896), Alexander and his wife settled on a farm, and later operated an oatmeal and grist mill "for many years until it was rendered useless by improvements to the Grenville Canal." They raised a large family.
