    • According to "History of the Counties of Argenteuil, Quebec and Prescott, Ontario", by Cyrus Thomas (1896), John was killed by falling from the top of the hay mow in the barn onto a sharp stake. "He was a young man of great promise , of agreeable and gentle disposition, quiet and unassuming manner; he had a splendid voice and was fond of music; heavy, muscular build and splendid physique, standing over six feet in height and weighing 220 pounds..." John and Peter were twins.
