  • Notes 
    • Early in 1921 Alexander developed abdominal tubercular disease. In May he developed acute tuberculosis in his lungs. He died at 5:20 a.m. on August 1, 1921 at the age of 33. His family suspected that his illness was partly caused by his exposure to chemical gas during World War I.
