  • Notes
    • From the book "From Wolf's Den to Huttonville", we learn that Samuel came to Canada with his mother and siblings in 1827. "By 1847 Samuel was the owner of Lot 3 on the east side of the 5th line. At various times he acquired an additional 500 acres along this road between Steeles Ave. amd Embleton Road." After his marriage to Mary Smith he built an octagonal brick house. Their four sons, Samuel, Darius, Benjamin and John slept in the upstairs room with clerestory windows. Their only daughter Eliza Jane and her parents occupied the two ground floor bedrooms in the centre of the house."

Samuel served as Justice of the Peace for the Huttonville area.
