    • Obadiah is the son of Hannah Applegate, b. c. 1650- 1719 & Francis Herbert, b 1670.
      His grandparents were Walter Herbert c 1645 & Hannah Bowne, c 1677.

      Note: Note the Lawrence-Herbert connect preceded the marriage of Oabdaih Herbert to Hannah Lawrence.
      The following will appears to be the father of Obadiah:

      WILL of his father, Francis Herbert.
      . 1719 Sept, 13. WILL of Herbert, Francis, of Middletown, Monmouth Co., yeoman; Wife Hannah.
      Children: Thomas, Francis, Samuel, Obadiah, Elizabeth, Bridget, Mary. Real & personal estate.
      Executors: the wife & son Francis.
      Witnesses: James Cox, William Cheesman, Joseph Patterson, Wm. Lawrence Junior.
      Proved November 25, 1719.

      1757, May 5 - WILL of Herbert, Obadiah, of Perth Amboy, Middlesex County:
      Wife, Hannah.
      Children - Obediah, John, William, Francis, Richard, Felix, Hannah & Routh, all under age;
      Land in said County: a right of propriety, bought of Cousin Hew Hartshorne; land in Monmouth County.
      Personal Property, incl surveyors instruments.
      Executors: the wife & eldest son, Obediah.
      Witnesses: Cornelies Lambertson, William Morgan & N's Everson.
      Proved June 18, 1759.

      . Francis Herbert, who came from Long Island in 1677, & settled in Middletown, was a grandson of Philip Herbert, fourth Earl of Pembroke; he married Hannah Bowne, daughter of John Bowne;
      children of Francis & Hannah (Bowne) Herbert were:
      Thomas, Francis (second), David, Obadiah (see below), Elizabeth, Deborah, Mary;
      Obadiah Herbert (first), married Hannah Lawrence, daughter of William Lawrence Jr., 1729.

      The Herbert Bible record is as follows:
      Obediah Herbert his Bible bought of Hugh Gaines in New York Mar 2nd 1771 price 16/ shillings."
      Be it remembered that Obediah Herbert was born Thursday Sept. 9th about 12 o'clock at night 1731.
      & Elizabeth Warne his wife was born on Thursday morning Dec. 14th 1739. & were married together Anno Domini April 16th 1765 Obediah Herbert died Oct 12th 1777 aged 46 years one month & some days. - - - [1]
