      Herbert Duane Stimson, 86, of Point Place, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at home. He was born on May 4, 1931 to Leslie Roland and Marie Blanche Alexena (Dubois) Stimson in Danville, Quebec, Canada.

      Herb celebrated a new life, second chance with a kidney transplant from his wife, Pat, in 2007. Many healthy, happy years followed that wonderful gift of life.

      He was a game warden, then served in the Royal Canadian Air Force in Tule, Greenland to help navigate global positioning to map areas above Arctic Circle. He relocated to the U.S., and became an American citizen in 1986 while working for Xerox, where he remained for 34 years as a copier repair technician, retiring in 1997. He had love for the violin. He enjoyed classical music and played a part of a large youth international symphony concert. He also enjoyed boating, fine art, flying, model trains, travelling, family and friends.

      Herbert is survived by his wife, Pat Stimson; son, Randall B. Stimson of Fort Lauderdale, FL; step-children Melanie (Corey) King of Toledo, Marc Steinmetz of Toledo, Angie (Chris) Clabaugh of Fort Wayne, IN , and Ellen Hilker of Toledo; 7 grandchildren; nieces and nephew, Anita (Ken) Morrisson, Betty Ann Gendron, Denise (Derik) Kinsey, and Larry (Lori) Gendron, all of Ontario, Canada; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dot (Tom) Rushworth of Carmel, IN, Rose (Paul) Stanley of Sandusky, Karen (Chad) Crosby of Spencer, IN, Connie (Ed) Gross of Holland, Judy (Phil) Helterbrand, Dale (Kelly) Frankart, Duane (Jeanette) Frankart, Ernest (Cynthia) Frankart, and Donald (Rhonda) Frankart of Fostoria. He was preceded in death by his parents; fist wife, Laura Kittmer; second wife, Charla (Kinney) Stimson; and sister Virginia (Ray) Gendron; brother-in-law, Eugene Frankart; and niece, Cathy Gendron.

      The funeral will begin at 11 am on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at at Point Place United Church of Christ, 4920 297th St., Toledo, OH 43611, with an hour of visitation prior in the church. Pastor Jon Komperda will officiating. Burial will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park, Toledo.
