    • Obituary For Drowning Victim
      Funeral services of Cicero Squires Sitton, 50 year old Monacans oil company distributor who was drowned Friday while fishing on a lake near Truth or Consequences, NM with 2 companions, will be held at 3 PM Sunday at the local First Baptist church.
      Rev Levi Price, pastor, will officiate & will be assisted by Rev C C Gober of Monahans.
      Masonic graveside rites & burial will be in Monacans Cemetery.
      According to witnesses Sitton was fishing with Ed Biggs of Truth or Consequences & Paul woman of El Pasco when their boat developed motor trouble. When the men tried to fix the engine the boat capsized, spilling all 3 in the water. A nearby fisherman saw the men & managed to rescue Briggs & Womac, but Sitton was dead when he was picked up.
      the mane were thought to be wearing life jackets. However, the coats of the trio filled with air & puffed up when they fell not the lake. Sutton was still afloat when he was pulled into the other fisherman's boat. Biggs & Womac recovered after being given emergency treatment at Truth of consequences hospital.
      Born in Pyote & a distributor for Magnolia Oil Co. the last 25 years, Sitton had lived in Monacans some 15 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Masons & Shrines & had been active in civic work. He was also a World War II veteran. Survivors include the widow,
      2 daughters, Ellen & Martha, both of Monacans;
      the mother, Mrs. R L Sitton, of Monacans,
      One sister, Mrs. W L Bearden of Pyote; &
      one brother F L Sitton of Littlefield.
