    1. [S1705] Kemp of Williamsburgh, Craven Co., SC, Bladen and Anson Cos., NC and Wayne Co., GA, Worth Shipley Anderson.
      An old Bible, giving the births of John3 Kemp, Sr., his children, and some grandchildren, states, "John Kemp, Sen'r, was born 22nd Sept'r 1761."(115) However, in his Memoirs Joseph Richard4 Kemp stated his father, Joseph3 Kemp, Jr. was born 20 Dec. 1761.(116) Obviously one of the two dates is wrong, as they leave less than three months between the births of the two brothers. Unfortunately, the John Kemp Bible is not dated, but, because a majority of the entries relate to his immediate family, it appears likely to have been the Bible actually kept during his lifetime.
